thanks, it's nice to read how people still enjoy something I've put together a few years back!

I really hope whatever they do next involves more Panda on live drums. He's really great at programming/sampling beats, and I understand that it's a stylistic choice, but his natural sense of swing and rhythm definitely come through more behind a kit.

i thought the drumming on centipede hz was really cheesy and would much rather have jh on kit. panda was a really terrific drummer when he was younger but i'm not sure it's where he's at right now

I can't argue with that. I was just thinking he was fantastic as recent as SJ but that's TEN YEARS AGO. Jesus Christ. I think the beat on New Town Burnout is great but it's little like the rest of CHz and I don't know whether it was actually programmed, anyway. It certainly sounds like it.

it's the tomboy reject right? the beat totally sounds like it could have originally been the honey drippers or whoever

Cheesy? Aw, I really liked the drumming on CHz. Very latin-tinged. I'd love to see him go back to the jazzy drumming from spirit, that album alone is one of my biggest influences drumming-wise, and he's never done anything like it again. I asked him in person at a 2014 show if he's interested in going back to straightforward drumming at all, and he said "it's not really where my mind's at right now, but I do drum sometimes at home to keep the ability up"

Someone on the subreddit says this is the link, so try this one if the other one doesn't work: http://blogs.kcrw.com/music/
or maybe they just both point to the same stream

This will sound really redundant but anyway
I REALLY LOVE ANIMAL COLLECTIVE
Past 6 months or so my ears had grown tired of the band but I kept posting here because they're my favourite band blah blah blah
But yesterday I watched the Moog Fest show and then an old 2009 show and something clicked and now I am BACK BABY
Currently jamming to painting with, wondering why I ever felt so jaded. It's like being home again
LIFE IS GOOD GOD BLESS AVEY TARE, PANDA BEAR, DEAKIN, GEOLOGIST, JIM JUNGLE, POPEYE, SIA, DOON, SWEET JAMES, EDGAR, AND THE 5TH MEMEBER

Doubly redundant but couldn't agree more. I hated Painting on my first listen despite loving Floridada and now it is growing into one of favorite albums.
And this past month All of their work is hitting me especially hard right down to the depths of my soul. Damn I love this music and they are at the top of their game and just bleeding new amazing sounds.
An insane output thus far and they aren't showing signs of slowing. Full steam ahead!

The only possible criticism I could make of Wide Eyed is that it's tied with studio Jabbawocky as justification for music to be no longer recognised as an artform.

I Love that Jabbawocky studio version

theres only two songs that truly suffered from the live to studio transition and it's cosplay and selfish gene (btw what was selfish gene called b4 that name was given to it? it was my fav of the boots but i used to call it dark cloud which is apparently boys latin...)

Aye, Cosplay turned out shite too. I actually think Selfish Gene (previously Nadir) ended up pretty great, though.

I also prefer the demo version of Cosplay. it's the high harmonies in the studio version - overkill for a song that was already perfect

See I always was ehhhh towards wide eyed on the boots - cause I had acute Deakin Demoitis - the worst of all demoitis related illnesses

Cosplay without the sample is like Good Times without the bassline, or more specifically, Laughed For A World Filled With Fantasy without the sample:

Does anyone here own a copy of Animal Crack Box and if so what would it take to coax you into giving it to me? Money? Favors? Trades? Let's talk business.

I met somebody from Maryland last night (in Rhode Island) who told me her old babysitter was Deakin. Little did she know she was talking to a top-tier fanboy. I geeked out a little bit. Interesting talking to somebody who just knew him as Josh on a personal level who didn't know too much about his work with AC.
