ya now it's time to hope for strays like jerome, slow words, walk like a dog part of glasslands and other odds and ends to finally surface, newly re-formed all official and polished. mooostly would love if somehow the first part of the accordian-y glasslands about dementia randomly resurfaces but like nah that's gone, and that's like fine.

i actually don't care at all, bet it's all brand new stuff except Selection and mmaaaybe coral lords? i was almost gonna listen to that boot but i think not, meaning this will be first bootless listen since like DT sort of if you count those damn amazon samples for PW. no demo-itis potential unless there are oldies/rarities. man im so ready for this. i need this(?)

Speaking of boots, and going back to the original topic, I'm a bit out of the loop as to where the Mothlight performance fits in Avey's discog. Will those songs get a studio release? I need to hear "Right Now" properly, it's so emotional and sounds so good. The rest are dope too.

My guess is that those songs will appear on Eucalyptus, or rather I hope so because they are all amazing.

That's what we're discussing in this thread. People are speculating this "Eucalyptus" puzzle piece is hinting that these new songs may be coming out as part of a new Avey solo record called the same. The songs from the Mothlight boot could very well be the songs we're going to get on the studio album.

I really just hope he puts Song for Jerome on it. Really fucking hope. That song is killer and it's been too long since I've heard it, and it certainly deserves a studio release. I haven't heard it since the show in 2011 and it still stands out in my mind as the most memorable Avey song to date.

LOL this is great. WASN'T expecting an album to already be done!

Are they done playing material first then releasing it? Assuming these are the songs he's been playing live lately.

If the closer is that "My heaaaaaaaaaart is open to it now" song then we might have AOTD on our hands

can't really see that era surviving to this release at all but who knows. feel like that stuff was very much the world of DT but I guess it wouldn't be the first time something transferred over. Wasn't there rumor of a DT-tour release at one point? that could be down the line when they start uploading whole archives of live stuff (is that still happening?)

this kind of speculation makes it seem like they haven't already been super prolific in the past couple years specifically but it's the only way I know how to hype when we only have a tracklist, cover, puzzle motif and lower-quality boot to go off of i guess. that's actually a lot tho..

I kinda hope that none of the Mothlight songs are on Eucalyptus. I feel like those songs are all still in their development stage. Plus, that'd mean we could expect another solo Avey project in 2018 or so

^that hadn't even occurred to me... would be nuts. those song titles on the boot were made up right? there was no set list? guess there wouldn't need to be since it's just him.

this is quite an incredible surprise :) i am enjoying the parallels between the rainbow in Santa Clara during Fare Thee Well (that was temporarily wondered at its true origins), and this wonderful multi part artwork gift that people have received, where at first it was guessed that it could have been one person having made a custom puzzle and box themselves pretending to have been Avey/his art team etc!

  :shh:

I really hope Angel is more up front in this studio mix. She was so quiet and buried in the Slasher Flicks studio recording. She shined in those live shows and her parts were such a great contrast to Avey's vocals in my opinion.

Yeah when I first listened to Slasher Flicks I hadn't heard the live recordings before, so I thought her parts were Avey layered with effects

man it'd be a fucking miracle if the "Walk Like a Dog" section of the 2008 Glasslands set makes it on here. Hoping against hope, but it's a long shot.

Funnily enough, I was thinking this morning how Right Now or whatever it's called, track one, reminds me of Banshee Beat crossed with Glasslands. Absolutely tremendous song.

Strangely, Avey seems to be singing the "pal child" part in a transition beginning WCWAR from the 09 Henry Miller Show...

It's not really an example of that but I remember ages ago I saw an interview with Avey where he talked about wanting something to be "a little more freeform" and I was like lol

But that's only funny in an awkward nerdy way if at all

I remember seeing them live back in ol' '16 and they played this new song but it was just Floridada with the chorus changed to "Iowawa"

whoa those are both so cool! gotta go listen to that Henry miller boot now
e: just listened to the Henry miller boot, sounds like a totally different melody to me but it really does sound like he's singing the words 'pal child'! Interesting

Down There is so weird, in hindsight. Almost none of it sounds like anything Avey's done elsewhere, especially Ghost of Books, 3 Umbrellas and Heads Hammock, those squiggly little unresolved vocal melodies. That's my excuse, basically, and I expect you can see right through it.

Down There is an utterly fantastic little album, always thought it deserved more recognition

I'm excited at the thought of this one being a much larger album though

Agreed. Larger in terms of length and scope

I even hope there are a few songs without Avey singing and instead featuring the guest vocalists, similar to Excalibur and Mr. Funny Man
