If anyone has pics of the inner sleeves, etc. of this record, could you please post those for those of us who missed out? Sounds cool!

Avey's voice sounds so much older for some reason

This stuff is beautiful. Can't wait to hear the non-ripped version. Really excited about the dynamics here. Also really excited to see that this is something they're still willing to create/release. It's spectacular.

seriously, this. give it time; i am in love with the acoustic "meandering" (aka transcendent medititave stillness) after a few listens. it grows wonderfully; honestly feels short as opposed to a drag as you'd expect from meandering.

Check http://www.amoeba.com in about 50 minutes
Edit: it might actually be 5AM PST but they seemed to have a large allotment of AC records and it was still available after I left the store around 4PM

Strange how Avey's voice makes me think about Automine's Paddington Band or even Panda's first album. It must come from the recording material.

First impressions: Underwhelming in a GOOD way. Definitely meditative and campfire songs-y. The new territory here is very dry up-front vocals and very interesting and compelling sound design from geo. I want to say it strikes me as a very humble release, like they're letting nature take over the album and not getting in the way? The songs don't really launch the way they used to, making it more relaxing and less edgy. It's a great change-up, and I just can't believe this band can go from freaking hyped-out technicolor Painting With/The Painters to something like this. But I love how unpredictable they are.
I will say if you don't like ambient/folk then you may not appreciate this? But I'm sure everyone here is into that.
I can PM those who need it!!!
A PM would be fantastic man thanks (or from anyone)! Bought this sucker yesterday and the download card is not active?! And of course my turntable isn't set up...

I love the lyrical references that juxtapose the natural setting Avey is currently in while playing and our own original natural being as humans with modern technology. He references phones and or texting in some way feeling out of place after getting back in touch with nature. One line that stands out as an example is something he says about "waves wash driftwood like apologies in texting" or something. I will have to listen again and find exact examples, but I am pretty sure it was a theme he wanted to touch on with this release.

ok so i've listened to this twice now (wanted to listen at the right time) (thanks victor for PM) and it's so great...... someone mentioned they were anticipating it so be kind of like sleep cycle and it def is. dont get me wrong it's its own thing but i can never resist comparing ac releases to one another lol. it's kind of like sleep cycle + prospect hummer but it moves in much the same way TTG does, kinda pulsating and lurching between segments which i really like, plus i can definitely see its influence on avey's new stuff and the coral orgy set (being that this was recorded a year+ ago iirc). honestly Man of Oil is one of the great avey songs.
the EP feels like a sister release to sleep cycle (if i had to choose i like this better). was kind of worried about it feeling fake deep when i heard about the recording process but really it's more just chill and cool and classic feeling, it's a really special release. hearing the rainforest sounds makes me really happy and the songs written for this are really pure and just nice. one of my favorite things about ac has always been that they are just nice people and it shines through all of their music. the monkey howls and other animal songs used sound incredible in the songs, really couldn't ask more from avey and geologist.. wonderful wonderful stuff in this thing. can't help but imagine them loading these sounds into their equipment in the middle of the rainforest floor, processing them and playing them back and just looking at each other giggling and saying THIS IS SO COOL!!!!! the second time listening to it i got goosebumps just like the first few times listening to sleep cycle thinking "i knew this would be good but..... i can't believe it's this good"... got much the same feelings listening to this as i did when listening to golden chords and sponge luke for the first times.
the second time i was listening to this it also got me thinking about how really none of my favorite ac releases anymore are full length albums. meeting of the waters, coral orgy, transverse temporal gyrus, new psycho activities, painters ep, honeycomb/gotham, water curses, oddsac, other loosies and random non-album releases are usually what feel most special to me at this point, i feel like most of their real gems are found in releases like these but can be overlooked a lot of the time.

Floating logs on a dark stream move me unlike apologies in texting
Not thinking about little letters on my phone

I was catastrophically hungover this morning from a funeral yesterday and had to go to a Christening today and listened to this in the bath while reading Alan Watts on Taoism and just had a few moments of utter peace and contentment. Going to bed now, it's 8pm and I'm going to listen again with an ice cold chocolate milk.
I was disappointed at first that the third part is just ambience and the final part is a very low key song but actually, this is just what I love about old Animal Collective, they were as happy with exploration and drifting and playing as they were with traditional songwriting structures. And it seems they still are, or at least Dave, Brian and Josh are. That's a very very comforting and beautiful thing on an evening when I feel physically and emotionally drained. Blue Noses is also what we call Everton FC fans, and I support Everton. Serendipitous.
I really love this release and feel a bit stunned that Animal Collective are still capable of making me feel like this.

the live shows, sure. the final product ended up feeling choked and overproduced to me. it's so nice to hear sleep cycle and motw, which are looser and more free than anything they've released recently

I would say that about The Painters as well. Hope it continues. Imagine this new Avey material with these vocals.
