I've always loved the transition from guys eyes into taste on the album
and this isnt contrarian, but yeah, queen in my pictures --> doggy is likely my favorite song transition in the history of song transitions

Queen in my Pictures > Doggy and Guys Eyes > Taste are great. Rev > Fireworks good too. That's about it, if my memory serves me.

Ok this is the one I take issue with, you can fuck right off.
First, Let the Blind Lead... is better than Logos.
Dos, Parallax shits on BOTH OF THOSE
Third, Walkabout isn't even the best song on Logos. ATTIC LIGHTS IS, YOU FUCK

I agree with this, though.
Quick Canal slays every other Atlas Sound track; possibly deerhunter too

Bearhug remains my all time favorite AC track.
tho 06 was the peak of their live show: see Tavastia

Oh shit, I forgot about this thread. Let's be contrarian again
Goalkeeper is a bad song, and the little bit before the chorus where Avey and Panda have contrasting vocal lines sounds so damn awful and disorganized that it makes me worried for the future of their vocal writing

I agree, but that chorus more than makes up for it.

Deakin's album is good, but it's stuck in the past.
He's basically aping what Avey Tare and Panda Bear were doing with their music seven + years ago. The fact that people are taking that as proof that he's "what makes Animal Collective great" or "secretly the best member" is kind of silly.
Sleep Cycle is "The Force Awakens"...Deakin is J.J. Abrams and the rest of the band are George Lucas.

CHZ and PW are the prequels. To be clear I'm not saying they're as bad as episodes 1-3 though. Nothing is that bad.

Yeah, these songs have been marinating in Deak's mind for a long time, which might be why they sound kinda old? Idk, they sound fresh to me. The style is more old-AC, but it's also very much a product of Deakin's own mind. Honestly really hope the next AC album has a similarly meditative vibe

definitely agree with this. it sounds like an album made by a fan who was super influenced by early ac.

Sleep Cycle does have a lot of elements that sound like older AC albums, but it's all the albums that Josh was on. To say Deakin's solo album is stuck in the past is one thing, but then to claim he's aping Panda and Avey totally undermines his role in the band to the status of a copycat.
Again, not saying Sleep Cycle doesn't sound like the love child of Feels and SJ, but the biggest trait it shares with those albums is that they all have Josh's unique DNA inscribed within them.

It sounds like an album made by a fan who was super influenced by early AC because he was in the band a lot during early AC.

The songs themselves are very much his own, no question. The production, aesthetic and performance of said songs however are really indebted to stuff Avey and Panda have done with and without the band. That's not to say Deakin didn't contribute a large part to the AC sound, because he obviously did, but Sleep Cycle seems like fan service.
Regardless, Panda and Avey both appropriated a lot of each others ideas on their solo albums, and the band seems like a communal get down, creativity wise. I really have no problem with Deakin using old ideas, but this is the contrarian thread so I figured I'd be a complete and utter asshole about it.

I don't really feel like being influenced by each other is "copping each other's ideas," when they're in a band together

footy has slippi vibes for sure but the other three proper songs don't sound like anything like other AC material unless i'm really overlooking something?

Yeah I don't really hear these crazy similarities. Sonically all AC related albums have similar characteristics, but Sleep Cycle just feels different and a little more grounded in reality than their past stuff

if anything Kinda Bonkers lyrics rips off Sleep Cycle's vibes
