Oh damn. I wonder if this is an anco project or not because of the NDA he signed (it would seem weird that AnCo would make each other sign one, unless they have to do that with a label or something).

If it was just Avey and Geo, maybe it's an Avey solo thing?

Where do you think this recording would have taken place?

It's @37:17. For anyone too lazy to listen: "We just did another...when does this air? Well, Dave and I, uh... shit, I don't know uh, yeah. I don't know what I'm not supposed to say actually, because it's like connected to another thing. But we did another thing recently that involves outdoor recording and I brought my modular synthesizer"

Then the interviewer says "to the campfire?" cuz they were talking about campfire songs and Geo says "WAY more remote than that"

What were they doing in Brazil?

If he was asking when this interview would air, I wonder if this is an announcement they're going to make soon. It's not like he would anticipate an interview airing much later after it takes place. Maybe this will be a year end thing?

Avey and Geo were there in february shooting something:
Spoiler: show
.
This guy had a couple pictures on his instagram of them, and I think avey posted something from there when he still had his account.

Also, I just started the interview and at the beginning Geo also mentions that they went back into the studio a couple months ago with Jeremy to record some more leftover PW stuff. So maybe there are a few things coming.

Edit: I should really just listen to the thing before I start making posts, but Geo says that the main thing they wanted to get recorded was the Jimmy Mack cover. And then he mentions another song that was 80-90% done from a few years ago that might have been Mountain Game, since this was recorded before that came out.

Ooh I'd love to hear a studio-quality Jimmy Mack! I wonder if there might be an EP coming out or if that will be a standalone release like Mountain Game was.

Well, don't forget party people, Panda still has an unused song called Goalie mentioned by Geo b4!!! Hopefully with the introduction of Jeremy to the studio we'll get something more like the live versions...big and sprawling...and kick ass!!!

And MAYA!

That's interesting that they recorded Jimmy Mack. I guess it's not surprising since it's been a staple of this tour but this would be the first time they recorded a cover in the studio right?

Would be really sweet to get an 3 or 4 song EP with Jimmy Mack and PW leftover tracks

yeah I'm psyched to listen to this whole interview later, seems pretty great from the snippets I heard. I like how they said when people ask what they do they just say they're in a rock band

Just listened, awesome interview. Loved hearing them talk about their first tour w Black Dice. Too bad that they can't press New Psychoactives vol1 on vinyl because of uncleared samples, tho I wasn't really holding out for it anyway since it was a pretty lowkey release

I also really loved to hear them talk about how they sometimes disagree where the "1" is in their songs, because I've always been confused about where the downbeat is in Did You See the Words. It's like the drum beat is backwards with the rim clicks on the downbeats and the floor tom on the offbeats. And same with Alsatian Darn, the downbeat always shifts in my head throughout that song

I totally disagree with whoever the dude who plays with Beach House is who says AC is missing the third in all their chords lol. After hearing that in the interview I tried to think of a song of theirs that's just 2-note chords, no major or minor third, and I couldn't tink of any. He specifically said something about guitar tuning, but there are major and minor chords all over Feels, Sung Tongs and Campfire Songs, so idgi

Jimmy Mack is one of my favorites from the era. I know lots of you would be at my throat about this, but I couldn't help but feel like there was very little energy on painting with. seeing them live helped, but jimmy was one of the only songs I saw that truly had the energy I was used to seeing from them live... avey's so fuckin into that song

I bet we'll be getting an EP soon. Jimmy Mack, those two unknown leftover painting with jams, plus I don't think the older leftover one Brian mentioned as being 80-90% done from an earlier EP is Mountain Game. It seems like Mountain Game was recorded and completed all in 2010 to be submitted for RDR. Hopefully this means we're getting another completely unknown song from an older era!

I wouldn't count on it. I asked Avey if they had plans for that and Mountain Game a few months ago. All he said was "Mountain Game? Yeah we might do something with that."

Never say never I guess

Yeah listening back I think you're right. I missed the part where he said the nearly finished song was from an abandoned EP, so it's probably not Mountain Game. (although the abandoned EP comment is interesting, I wonder if that was going to be after CHz)

So that would mean 3 new songs and a studio version of Jimmy Mack, all pretty exciting stuff.

Very curious as to what the project between Brian and Dave turns out to be, sounds like it may be on its way soonish.

oh my god what Brian says about them all hearing the "one" at different places(51:40ish)

there's at least a couple of AC songs that fucked me up because of either hearing it wrong at first, or just never figuring out where the "one" is

Brother Sport is one of those

edit: oops yeah what Victor Borge said

also how "official" is it if you release something with a white label? hehehehe

oh my god that reminds me of that crazy conversation between some Collected Animals ages ago about the live Jane show at the Midi festival, like Panda sending weird sounds to Scott's headphones

technically polly wasn't even studio recorded, I'm pretty sure the track on the white label is from a radio session

I guess physical release is a better description of Polly than "official", since you're right, Polly and the Stevie Wonder Purple Bottle are not copy right approved

Through experience, it's definitely a label thing. Domino needs as much control over the release and promotion of their music to maximize sales.

Geo said it's "connected to another thing" so maybe it's some kind of collaboration or promotion involving an organization or something like that? Maybe it's like a video for a campaign to save the rainforest since it was in Brazil. U heard it here first
