the final show of the original Smashing Pumpkins run was 4+ hours, broken into three or four main sets with four encores. the AC have so much music and so much ground to cover, if they were ever to call it a day and play a final show in that tradition, it would have to be super long and encompassing of their whole career.

i think it's going to happen sooner rather than later unfortunately... I bet Avey wants to continue recording and touring with the AC until he's an old man just like the Dead, but I'm guessing Noah feels completely different... I think as they hit 40, we could see extended hiatuses and maybe even an official breakup.

theyve been playing music together for longer then theyve actually been known to the public and i think theyll keep doing it because of the crazy creative and emotional connection thse four guys have.. them being a collective pushes that forward too so if one member isnt feeling it they can pursue another project and come back for the next one...

Though I do agree we may have do endure longer stretches between albums as they get older. Kids grow up though and as they do the fathers of the group will have more freedom.
