This is a great surprise. Loved hearing it for the first time at Avey's Solo show in Chicago at Schubas Tavern. That was one of the first dates with my current girlfriend so that show and this song have extra special meanings to the both of us. We listen to that boot pretty regularly.

kinda unrelated but can someone point me to that avey live boot that everyone raves about? the one with this song, song for jerome, etc. i've never heard it and if those are songs are this good, oh boy...

I think personally this one is the best quality but all the setlists we have from this era are pretty much the same.

I listened to whole song and counted 7/8 over and over until the very end and everytime the 1 was the beginning of the measure. It can't be 7+6 cause the first and second measure are exactly the same beat, both 7/8. Did you mean 14/8 ?

Because I have too much time on my hands I just made this in Ableton. It's in 13. the beep boops are grouped as 3+3+4+3. You can group the beats in other ways but that's just the way I hear it

Ohh ok I just realized I'm hearing the downbeat in a different place than u are jfw. But yeah that it is the grouping at the end. I hear the downbeat at the first 2 in the 2+2+2

Guys, it's clearly 7/8. It goes. B = Bass drum C = Clap

It continues that way throughout the song. You guys are one 1/8 beat short because your not counting fast enough.

i feel like you're right because i always feel off in the verses but it's really hard for me not to hear the last 2 as a pickup to the bar starting on my 4. i think it's an emphasis thing

in any case the end is much easier to count bagel if you want to hear what we're talking about

Its funny, I was having an idea yesterday BEFORE I saw this track had dropped, but now more than ever do I feel necessary to encourage and discuss the following imperative:

is there has there can there be a definitive compilation of all unreleased AnCo? That would make for such a cool project to put together & collab on. I was thinking yesterday about songs like "On A Beach" & "Kite"(?) & well, now this one, and just how cool it is to hear the stuff these guys 'leave' on the cutting room (or back in the day) venue floors.

Some peeps in this thread were asking about an OG version of this track (which is cool cuz I would have had to ask if someone else didn't) and I'm just wondering if there's already something like this on CA I haven't found lurking yet, or not?

Let's make a DL-able Unreleased Cuts thing. I'd do whatever I culd to help, which, admittedly is not much, becuase I'm pretty in the dark about some of these mythic unreleased tracks. Wouldn't it be nice to have a really good round up of the best qualities of these songs available?
