For me, this is absolutely one of the greatest songs of my life and it'll stay with me til my watery grave. This live performance is so intimate and heartbreaking, and cosy, and eerie, like a very comfortable grotto, I just want to curl up and inhabit that world for ever.
I love the wind up clockwork plucking on the verses and the way it undulates gently, lifting you up for a line and then settling you back down again and again until it tugs you up to higher ground with that soaring chorus. It really makes me frown and shake my head, the melody is so beautiful and ecstatic and heartrending, like young impossible love.
I also adore the restrained power and sweet crack of Dave's voice live, it reminds me of their version of I've Got Mine, another song I could die to alongside my wife and not regret anything, but wishing we could savour more life together.
Thank you, Dave, for making my life so much richer and transporting me to a world deep within me which civilisation has gradually tried to dampen and reduce.

The whole album is really special to me too. One of my favorite things Avey's ever done. Someone made a compilation of all of the non album live stuff that they did and I listen to that all the time too.

I feel you
This song, and this particular performance of it..
"and you helped the sneeze for as long as you could just to cast into the sneezing void..."
"and you can take all you want from another person, in the end you'll find you'll lose your voice"
Also the end of Opis Helpus... "is anybody stompiiiiiinnnnnn anymore in the, wheat fields. is anybody.."
so close to my heart

i feel similarly to you on this one. this is a song where avey shows his genius. the imagery is so vivid, so specific, yet ive interpreted the lyrics in several ways at different points in my life.
when the soind waves from this song enter the physical realm, they are conjuring lofe; creating something that exists far beyond the sound it makes. this song literally breathes.... and breathes air in to my lungs.... sustaining me as a gasp of air would when surfacing from a deep dive.
it captures the feeling of optimism in the face of realizing the omnipotence of darkness. it fights back against evil and prevails. avey doesn't perform this song.... he is the vessel in which it makes itself available to our world. he in channeling something special.something timeless. something human and non human.

I assume you mean the same power that he unleashes in opis helpus "oh 'cause each DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY"

wait holy shit thanks for posting this i found the live at the first unitarian church after and i havent ever listened to any of this and holy holy shit its haunting and beautiful and highly original. the second untitled at 7:42 length is literally
i cant believe it aveys struggling voice and the hurried pace as if they are running from some terror and krias hauntingly perfect voice sounds like she is about to cry but also perfectly sober realization of the terror at the same time
(any idea of the lyrics though?)
