Hello a newish fan here, took me a while to appreciate AC but person pitch and feels helped me like MPP and all there other back catalogue. Just wondering what specific Geologist contributions he adds to tracks. Certain albums I can feel his presence more I.E MPP due to the nature of the album and the lack of Deakin

don't let anyone tell you that "baleen sample" is a geologist solo track because it's the opposite, he had no creative input at all. they're samples he recorded though

He brings the oranges on at half time. Dave polishes the boots. Noah runs hot bubble baths and Deakin designs the kits.

 I can see what he does, the stuff on strawberry jam, just wondering what specific bits which might just be down to him when you might not be able to tell

The bit I always think of is the very end of Unsolved Mysteries. That whirring fractured collage. Amazing sense of movement to it, the guy has talent.

He's also responsible for a lot of the low end on later releases

My personal favorite is the adorable synth riff at the end of Crimson

inflating the kiddie pool, googling the wikipedia page for "dinosaurs" and buying mountain dew for the rest of the band

geologist sure clawed his mark into the niche market of 'hey i'm the weird sound guy'
why doesn't every band have a guy who just triggers neat glass breaking samples and slippery uh ohs

did you really expect a real answer from any of us? haha

early stuff hes doing alot of noisey synth stuff

feels hes doing a lot of the ambient textures but also samples that build up the track and take it to a new place (purple bottle)

mpp is tougher to decipher sometimes. he does do primarily the ambient side of stuff, but also has his hands in synth melodies too I think. I thought I read once that Brian sometimes takes in Noahs outputs and messes with them? or was it Dave's or vice versa?

CHZ the dude is rockin samplers, moog tauras bass pedals at his feet, and a moog at his finger tips. I could tell live on todays supernatural he was taking dave's vocal as input and messing around with it.

PW - modular synths, samplers, vocoder

I wish we could hear just isolated Geologist tracks on songs.

 maybe, I thought he played some synths on certain tracks any way after reading it somewhere. He is modest in what he does from interviews I have seen. It is more then just samples he does. He ads affects etc. just wanted to know certain parts that were maybe just entirely down to him . I would like to see a album from him I think he is more then capable it is obviously going to be heavily sampled/electronic

I wish we could hear just isolated Geologist tracks on songs.

Messed the post up a little but oh well

He does alot of samples and soundscapy type stuff. If you took away his contributions to the albums hes been on, they would sound more straight foward.

It's kind of obvious here that hes doing all those swirly samples.
