Can't wait til Avey picks up the guitar again. Or til they start playing songs without programmed beats again, live. It's all about that band playing together dynamic. I miss that, a bit. In watching their recent live videos, they're great, but altogether that vibe is a little weird for me. Love the feel of something created from nothing. Anyway i'm just rambling. This band offers me a fair few challenges and i accept them graciously, with great reward.

Pulled it from DIYmag, the rest of the article is pretty standard, but in that paragraph it seemed like Geo was quite salty (like pizza

And yeah I feel you Spectrum, it would be cool to hear them get off the grid again. There's something so dynamic about timing in earlier AC albums that I don't think they've messed around with since Strawberry Jam really. Even though I bet a lot of that is programed in as well.

I didn't read that as Geo being salty really, more just curious about the shifting nature of what's "in", meaning that he's fine with old fans not necessarily digging whatever ac does next.

This is probably my favorite quote of last year's bunch of interviews with Panda: "I don’t really have a problem with getting old - I know some people who are definitely resisting that process. I’m psyched to be an old guy, so maybe that makes it easier for me."
They're getting wiser and so their music.

I guess I just don't read them cursing all that much. It's pretty funny!
And yeah, Panda got that old spirit in him. It's gonna be so cute seeing pictures of them all silver haired and still dressing fashionably goofy in the future.

don't think this dude posts here so I'll chuck this here: a chiptune daily routine cover
usually I kind of yawn over chiptune covers but this guy seems to do them faithfully i.e. with the actual limitations of chiptune, rather than just slapping together some midi instruments. He's got a really cool moonjock cover on his channel too

I hope it's spilling guts. Extended noise version like Catchy was Contagious. Avey and Panda being homicidal conjoined twins.
But that's so specific it's guaranteed it's not happening

Just got really into Arthur Russel, his things are insanly good.
I hear some strawberry jam vibe with use of noise in the background

My Girls got sampled by Beyonce on her new album. The song's called '6 Inch'. I can't listen yet but someone should give it a go. I'm pretty interested!

Unofficial Youtube link, probably getting taken down soon
I don't hear the sample, but part of the melody in the bridge is lifted from My Girls, including a line ending in "material things." So that's kind of cool.
Edit: and it's not credited as a sample in the first place. "THIS COMPOSITION EMBODIES PORTIONS OF “MY GIRLS” WRITTEN BY DAVID PORTNER, NOAH LENNOX, AND BRIAN WEITZ." Then the samples are listed separately.

Yeah just heard it man, youre totally right. No sample as such. But yeah i don't mind the track. 'Too smart to crave material things' is the borrowed melody

it is so unrecognizable though, i would have been surprised if AC would ever have made an issue of it if it was uncredited. guess ppl are being more careful these days.
good for the collective tho!

Next page'd, but it's more of an interpolation than a sample:
Holy shit

It must've been a situation where even though it was super mild, the songwriter knew they'd accidentally lifted a few notes + "material things" from My Girls and figured it'd be safer to put it out there now rather than risk a multimillion dollar lawsuit w/ my boys later on.

I assume the cheddar comes with the sales and streams? That's how royalties work mostly right??? I could be way off
so basically if you like the song and you want them to get money for it then buy the fucking song or stream it legally somewhere, you can't leave it up to someone else

umm why is it reported that the new beyonce tracked is sampled or "embodies portions of My Girls"?? it was just that one line of not craving for material things. that's it lol

It was an accident and they credited AC to cover their backs, it seems
Fair play tbh

Haha yeah.
Beyonce bangs out one of the tracks.
Lots of head-nodding and pleased writers/producers in the studio.
Smiles all round. Talk of this album being something special.
Guy right at the back pipes up.
Sure that's just Slippi

The band Rollercoasterwater wrote a song called "What Avey Tare Said." Pretty cool to see an Avey Tare referencing song out in the world. HBD DP!

Lol I know right
He'd already written about six albums worth of songs by the time he was my age now
Don't worry about it though dude, just do your thing. It's okay not to be on Avey Tare's level.

From the youtube description of the video
wrote:
Dave introduced us to his wife Angel Deradoorian and we sparked up conversation about everything ranging from their recent marriage to psychedelics and Dave started giving us all of this really intensely profound advice about life and what being a successful psychedelic musician in the current music industry is like.
