Noticed that it def sorta references Boxer.

Like how this falls in line with darker/spacey stuff like down there, and oddsac. Love how ac has that darker more mysterious vibe that shows up on side releases.. Contrasts well with the manic/bubbly energy of the studio LPs

for us that are normally living in the age of the immediate and the distraction this was a great lesson of time and patience

AC has been pretty fun on the recent records, but is not so personal INTENSE in a long time (except PB Tropic of Cancer i would say)

I love when that happens. Whenever things like that occur I always attribute it to the music having literally mystical powers. I am not surprised Sleep Cycle has some magic dust inside of it.

Yeah, Good House. Almost made me cry. The melody is so good! The way it resolves is just...wow. I've only listened a few times, but Sleep Cycle is in the upper tier of AnCo releases. Josh, you've been hiding this talent for way too long! Can't wait to hear more from you.

Does anyone else get Astral Weeks vibes from this? Not that there's any real similarity in the singing or music, but I think that it has the same kind of searching realness to it, like it's tapped in to the ultra-reality, if that makes sense. Maybe it just hit me in the same way, I don't know. But I do know that this album has made me feel a lot better, and I've needed that. Thanks Josh!

but um (ch) yeah i am listening to this like a madman for the past 24 hours. I love painting with A LOT but geez this album makes me tear up a lil and the production is so immense and full but balanced and perfect. Reading along to the lyrics really cut me deep too yo. The best takeaway from this album for me is actually how inspirational it is to me though, last night I wrote a song I'm really proud of because of the way some of these lyrics were making me feel. first listen. really impressed by the vocal melodies and how many notes he bounces around on. not just up and down different pieces of a scale. but thoughtfully chosen notes held for just the right amount of time. its varied but not overly complex.

its beautiful how you can hear the influence all the ac guys have on the songs. even when they do their own thing, they are all one. not many special things left in this world that make you happy to be alive to experience them but ac is one.

wasn't expecting this release to be so solid. not that I was expecting deakin to put out something bad, but I find usually waits this long for an album end up disappointing for whatever reason. not in this case though

Alongside Painting With Sleep Cycle kinda feels like "Living in the Material World" to Paul's "Band on the Run" in the sense that it is Deak looking inward/godward while the rest of the band is currently in a pretty extroverted state. This record sounds like Josh is trying to communicate something about an Other while at the same time some of the lyrics read as instruction or reminders to himself re: how to live. I can almost hear "Be Here Now" in some of the vibes on Sleep Cycle.

I don't know if anyone said this but chords in Golden Chords remind me of In the Flowers, those are the same chord progressions in one part I suppose.
Also, my first 'reminds of' impression was Meddle by Pink Floyd.

I enjoy the album a lot. I had this kind of feeling while listening — ah, fuck everything, I let myself lose in this sound, like I surrender.
