sweet!! thanks sb, good to know. so at least over 30 min then, that's Down There-sized, nearly PW-sized.

i think like 35-45 min is the sweet spot for albums for me personally

:metal

(and good to see u sb! :guitar: )

oh my god Pete I love you as much as I love Deakin

I'm gonna make a wild guess that the EP label is there because of a smaller number of tracks so maybe some long-ass songs on this one? would be damn good

I'm sorry for being hyper at the moment but could I just ask you since you're Sonic Boom, SB, has anyone ever played Nicki Minaj in the background and shouted "AYO SB, WHAT THE FUCK'S GOOD?" at you in a friendly gesture? Because that would be the chillest. I mean that in all earnestness as someone who loves Nicki as well as that song.

First time listening to that Malian Routes comp and now I'm hyped for some Deak

Dude I've never heard of this before and I'm listening to it now - only on Wide Eyed now, but hot damn, it is good. Anyone know any more about this release? It's stellar, and if it doesn't drop off bad then it'll probably be one of my favorite AnCo family releases.

edit: According to last.fm it's a fan made album. Is that true?

(hi to everyone btw, long time lurker - thanks for all the great boots and info, and hi to the lovely Sonic Boom - I've met you a couple of times after shows and you've always been really nice. Tis a pleasant surprise that the man matches the music)

Sufjan's got that 59:15 long EP
and
Thundercat's got that 16:07 album

So I think the definition of an album and an EP is extremely subjective nowadays. I find that EP's generally take more liberty with the content (i.e the Sufjan release has two different versions of the same song, or a lot of ep's have live tracks), so maybe Deakin is planning to put some live stuff on there or something, which would make sense because the kickstarter originally said that they were recording some stuff in Mali while they were there, right?

Honestly I hope it doesn't feel like he's just chucked a bunch of stuff on there. The only time AC released an EP that felt scrapped together was People I think. And that's because it was. I think because this is Deakin's only thing so far and he's been working on it for six years, he'll probably try to avoid something that feels too messy. I think he could definitely incorporate some live stuff from the Mali shows in a sweet way though.

All Delighted People was almost like a bunch of great leftovers before the main event of Age of Adz. Sort of like The Avalanche but released first instead of after. So I think it's a different scenario to Deakin's thing.

Edit: Sam's onto something I reckon
