This is a tough one. And obviously just my opinion.
Hocus Pocus = LITG
Floridada
Summoning the Wretched
Which is weird, because LITG was one of my least favorites of the Amazon samples, and Summing was my absolute favorite.

what do you mean summing the wretch is tamer than you thought it would be?
the track is jubilant as fuck and I wouldn't really consider it tame...
maybe that's just me

reading the word tamer in respects to summing the wretch makes me doubtful
that song is very punk to me & literally the opposite of tame
although, his hocus pocus reference is spot on
so maybe we just have different TASTE :^)

I still like Summing The Wretch. Its a fantastic song as far as I'm concerned, and I absolutely agree that its a cheerful tune!!! But I see it more as kind of serene, and joyful, as opposed to "AB AB SENCE SENCE BLAH BLAH OPASJDOAHFSOHFDHOFAO IT. nnnnneeeeOOOOO", cause thats kinda what it sounded like in the sample to me. Maybe I'm letting my expectations skew my opinion a lil.

Out of the four songs I've heard? Floridada for sure. It lacks the hocketing of the 3 other songs, but its also the least weird. I feel like Floridada is going to be the stand-out song on the album, purely because its so poppy and vanilla for something made by TheAnimalCollective.
I'm expecting most songs to be weird, and definitely growers, like LITG.

Always a bummer to see a larger than average amount of users online only to find that this thread has the same number of pages as when you last checked.

Any predictions what the two tracks being released afterwards are gonna sound like? Is the Japanese bonus track gonna be the same track as that scooba diving thing? (I haven't heard it I've had a sound sensitive headache for a while)

I told my friend that was interesting mostly because the new album isn't out yet and they are going to be touring till september. So nuts that they are already in the planning stages of the next step.
coollodges (and everyone), what do u think is the likelihood that they meant audio recording versus maybe recording for a music video? / did your friend seem to think this person was definitely referring to recording audio?
regardless...,![]()

When I saw the stuff about a jungle shoot I was convinced that that was what my friend was talking about, but the more I think about it, the issue was that it would be difficult to record in this place. My friend basically said that they heard the management say "they want to record in X place and I don't know how that's gonna happen, we are going to have to get generators or something". So it kind of seems unrelated to a video shoot, but then again the location of the video shoot fits.

Do Hocus Pocus and Summing the Wretch change throughout/have different sections or do they revolve around mostly the same space like LITG?

Guys I'm telling you... Recycling is the best song on this album. I love Hocus Pocus a lot though and it's grown on me the most besides Golden Gal. Golden Gal's second half is my favorite thing animal collective have done in a while idk why it's just got the best feeling to it. Summing the Wretch is a super cool song and the more I've listened the more I've understood it's structure and wanted to kiss it.

Does Spilling Guts develop or change at all?

In the last 15 seconds yes but don't worry it's a crispy little jam and more than satisfied me after hearing the sample a bunch

Word, I love the sample a lot. Thanks for the info! Do most of the songs develop compared to the samples?

No doubt. Most songs tend to have a divide somewhere in the midpoint or even have four different sections. that's where i see most of the ramones and beatles influence is how quickly they change into different sections of songs. Especially "Vertical"...

actually NPR has put streams up on Wednesdays all 2016 so far. if NPR is streaming the album in advance, then the album will be available TOMORROW (usually they put the album up 1+ week in advance of release date)

@Dividual
Hocus Pocus changes moods completely at some point in the song, and returns back to the start but even more excited. Very cool.
Summing The Wretch kind of stays put, but obviously changes with each verse(ish) and the chorus(thingy)

this sounds even more chz-y than chz in some ways with these crazy sounding song structures, from what a couple ppl have described. kinda pictures it more verse/chorus/bridge/chorus. singles so far pretty much have.. maybe thats why they were the singles?
