I've been passing the time with a sequential retrospective of albums, b-sides and Crack Box performances. I'm up to Sung Tongs now and really can't wait for this tour. Hoping they revive some Indian and faster manic jams now that they have a touring drummer.
At this rate, I'll probaby take my time catching up and wait for the new album on wax. Oh what a glorious day that'll be!

listened to Spirits, Danse, HCTI, Sung Tongs, Feels, Strawberry Jam, MPP, cHz back to back while driving up the california coast (basically took the whole drive) but was actually really nice since I'd never had the excuse to do that before.

I remember blasting through the discog over and over and over when AC finally clicked for me. I printed off all the lyrics and sat down with each record learning the words and dissecting the layers of sound. Good times.

I need this freebird to happen soon! So that there's time enough to really reflect on whether or not I think Pitchfork will approve!

Just pray they don't have the same fate as DIIV preorders... emailed them today to see where mine was and they said that they just came in from the pressing plant last night and they're starting to ship them, in the order that the orders were received, starting today. Could potentially not have my copy until a week after the release date.

Danse FINALLY clicked with me after all these years, such a beautiful album and it makes so much sense seeing where they are going.
...that album holds the key IMHO
the angular and tangential progression forward from each era to the next is really creatively inspiring for me

haha Wow, somebody posted a direct link to the Amazon samples on What, and I totally caved. Here are my broad stroke opinions after 3 times through:
It's as propulsive as the reviews and Reddit posts are claiming, but for me the charm of this album is its kineticly Earthbound presence. It seems to punch along with the gusto of a street performance, grounded and earnest in its desire to woo and inflate its audience. I fucking laughed out loud more than once at the audacity of their approach simply because they completely pull it off. I'll never cease to be amazed by the bold moves these dudes make in the sonic spectrum. I am now fully anticipating the god-tier album the masses eagerly await.

The new album Pool by Porches is a really solid synthpop release that just came out, if you like the detoned sort of vibe from some of Panda Bear's Tomboy pieces you'd probably like it, listen to the songs "Be Apart" and "Shaver" if you want to before you commit to an entire album to get a vibe for it.
I also recently discovered the album Zonoscope by Cut Copy, their song "Blink and You'll Miss the Revolution" is really great. I also recently got into the band Broadcast, their album "Tender Buttons" is really fantastic, they have a very unique sound.

Haven't listened to The Books in a little while until recently, but they have been helping tide me over. Smells like content

The way The Books use samples is insane, I haven't listened to them all that much but not too long ago I listened to the entirety of "Thought for Food" during a ceramics class, it was a truly transformative experience haha

Thanks, listening to Porches now! It's pretty catchy.
Also if any of you haven't heard it yet, listen to the album No Now by Clarence Clarity. It's pretty much an RnB album through the lens of a massive dose of LSD. Definitely has an anco-esque quality/sensibility to it.

Wow, I'm listening to the Clarence Clarity record right now, it's all over the place, really crazy I really like it. It sort of reminds me of some of the stuff Jai Paul did with his unofficial illegally released debut.

Yeah, it's a really great record. So glad I came across it. I've only heard Jasmine and BTSTU, is there more Jai Paul stuff I don't know about? A whole album?

HIs "debut album" was released online via a fake bandcamp account, he took it down and there was this whole thing and controversy about it. but people had bought it and they began to pass it around the internet and people were saying how great it was and started to make petitions for an official release and stuff but the hype eventually faded out and Jai has been silent ever since. You can still find it if you search for it online, this is the cover. It's absolutely incredible, love the second track "St8 Outta Mumbai"

I snagged that as soon as I saw it up when I was at work earlier, but I haven't listened to it yet... I'm this close to breaking my promise to not listen to the samples before the album came out

If you sample the samples and listen to them in moderation and do not indulge on them you're going to be fine, I'd say I've listened to them about 3 times over the course of a month and I'm continually surprised each time a revisit them. When i first heard "Lying in the Grass" i just remembered the sax being incredible but other than that the song was as a whole fresh and surprising.

Definitely one of my favorites judging from the samples. It's so catchy and punchy.
