Face it, this is the elephant in the room that everyone wants to (and does) talk about. Sure we all love AC, but as fans we have a responsibility to be honest and admit PB has made the best album ever. You know it, I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know I know it!

Like, I saw fuggin PeteK & Peebs playing some of PB's best shiz live & I wasn't 100% into it. What an IDIOT I used to be.
No doubt, one of my happiest moments of 2011 to see You Can Count on Me live.

I saw them in Manchester, absolutely fucking brilliant show and said to my mate in the queue 'fuckin hell it's Sonic Boom mate' when he strolled past and Pete turned round and gave me a grin. I appreciated it.

feeling lukewarm, sorry.
but it's only because of my personal taste (which is weird because I love every AC record). you can count on me is the only song that I really remember (is that one even on tomboy?). it's weird that person pitch is the only panda solo album that has clicked for me.

s/t has his best / beast of a song: WE BUILT A ROBO BOT!
YP was a bit of a snooze! (like campfire songs!)
[but it was what it IS!]
bearsong birtch was groovy as hell!
but it was a compilation!
7 tracks:
Search 4 Delish 2005?
I'm Not / Comfy In Knottika 2006 double a-side split 7inch
carrot rot / KKKKK cepter split
bros single dingle!
so that's 5 out of the 7 songs already pre-released!
it's acompf!
with a bonus track that became a single (TAKE THOSE PILLS!)
so that's 6/7
leaving just my little pony tale
as the pen ULTIMO track!
Tomboy he released all them pre album single dingles and it was... I don't know.. felt off!
like a half compf!
some of the songs REALLY hit...
but overall it felt weird and cold!
white & bright & shiny but in the dark?
and finally battling FOR the death it became even MORE SO!
what a long strange journey!

this is a good point i think! it's easy to forget that there really aren't that many songs on pp and only a handful of new ones !
tomboy's coldness is the best though (although the handful of tracks near the end is a snoozefest to me)

Who cares if PP is a glorified singles comp though? It still flows effortlessly as an album
Also Bros is pretty much 2 tracks, GG/Carrots is basically 3 tracks so it's really a lot of songs, it's just that they're grouped together

panda and pete at the vic in chicago was an amazing experience. They had that insane strobe setup where strobe lights on opposite ends of the room were pointed at eachother and created these insane light phasing patterns on top of the projected visuals behind them. Also pete smonked a j on stage. We saw sadgirlcore there and I think some other ca people.

yo tomboy being cold? i kiiinda get that in the way its kind of austere and has this sort of monochromatic feeling imposed on us by album art as much as the sound... but there's soooo much warmth in tb songs. theyre like classic beatles-y/60s pop songs put thru some weird aesthetic speed jet echo blaster vortex, but it still has this sing along warmth, and comforting guitar tnage

pp does kind of end up feeling a little less album-y to me becus of the release maybe and the wierd lop-sided track times maybe? but its undeniable it flows like a dream.

Person Pitch is the one for me, he'll never make that again, bottled lightning, changed musical mores, perfect cultural alignment, sounds effortless and natural. Everything after sounds less instinctive, more conceived but still fantastic. TB and GR are stunning records but variations on the tropes he established with PP.

Agreed. I think I loved Tomboy longer than I realised. It was the second anco album I ever got on vinyl and even then I just assumed that pp was better. Then I cooled off on panda bear in general and dove DEEP into the anco discog. Eventually I bought all the Tomboy era 7"s and only then did I realise how brilliant it was. I'd paid for the songs twice over without even thinking about it.
I LOVE TOMBOY!!!

to me Tomboy is like an album in black and white. Tomboy experimented with tone and noise to create a cold, nautical vibe. The background hisses and hums are vital to this album, and the reverb on the vocal harmonies adds more to the atmosphere than the harmonies would dry (although I need to hear the acapella mixes from the box set). Unlike the other albums... Person Pitch experimented with form and arrangement, PBVSGR experimented with texture to create color.
