really tho if there's dog requests, I actually don't check this one all the time so if you have a request involving dog appearance go to http://collectedanimals.org/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=3997
so I've been thinking about how lying in the grass seems like a strange choice for a pre-release single, or at least it did to me at first. but I guess what it is is domino shaping the narrative, like you get the really poppy thing out first and leave that sittin for a while, hooking some people but also perhaps leading to some fears that the album would be like super poppy. and so the release of this seems to be intended to reassure the diehards that anco still go weird. so then I'd imagine the next thing will be something really catchy to turn heads right as the album is coming out.

Based on the samples, what's the next catchiest? I could see "Golden Gal" being next

So we have just over two weeks (maybe less!) for a third track before the inevitable album stream / release date

Lovin how everyone's predictions are all over the place, especially based off the Amazon samples. Has it been discussed how different LitG is to be compared to the sample? Like first impressions vs. reality? Was there any of the sax or piano in it or did that stuff come out of the blue
I've been avoiding the samples (apologies if I keep bringing that up), but I think I might go back after the album hits just to see what impression I could have gotten.
For some reason this has me lollin'. If I ever have a band I'm naming the first album Go Weird.

the sample of LITG made it seems like a really propulsive song, but in reality it the beat kind of comes in and out in a really sweet way, also there's like 3 "sections" that we really couldn't have predicted

I love ma doggggy.
still think Floridada is a far better song than LITG, and even though LITG keeps growing its still just a nice song, but doesnt intrigue me at all. and although it sounds playful - and ofcourse, its AC so it has to be - it's too timid and clean. It sounds like a Reaper song to me, and reaper, wich I did like, doesnt come near to any AC album ( although in my enthousiasm I first did thought it would ).
I'm still excited for PW and especially Summing the Wretch though

Based on the samples, I was probably least excited for this one, and I still think it's an odd single choice but I really enjoy it and I'm excited about all the songs I really did dig from the samples. Like, where will they go, too? If I like this, I hope I'll get even more out of them.

I agree that I was shocked to see LITG as the second single, and can't help but wonder if it was chosen since it was the best fit for the "Painting With" app. It does contrast nicely with Floridada, having some weirder elements, but the second half ups the poppiness level quite a bit. I think what's most exciting is that it's a sound totally new for AC and I can't wait to hear the Avey/Panda vocal exchanges live (I actually thought LITG was two pandas going back and forth based on the amazon sample, but was pleased to find out otherwise). Great stuff!
EDIT: I also just wanted to say how much I love the percussive sounds in LITG! I'd imagine this is one that utilizes the kiddie pool they've talked about.

It was my least favorite sample too. The song doesn't change up a whole lot besides the Electric Light Orchestra vibes towards the end which are really cool. I definitely think the song is Little Fang pt 2
but definitely way better than little fang (i like little fang)

What's your favourite track, BB? And what's your guess for next single? Mine is now On Delay

On Delay runtime is like 2 min right? I'd be fine with that as a single because I want to hear as little of the album as possible before release/leek

Favorite track is Recycling. One of the sweetest panda jams ever(sorry to ruin that!). #2 is the burglars cuz holy shit it sounds incredible in non lavatory flac. #3 is on delay.
Next single will probably be Vertical but hey what do I know.
I really can say after 6 listens that the only downside to this album is that the sections of some of the songs come too much out of nowhere but that's where the Beatles and ramones influence is more obvious. For me, album is a 8.9 and only growing with each listen <3 <3 u all
Edit: actually single will prob be vertical or on delay. The way they intro on delay is so beautiful and gets me super pumped up

screw The Burglars, I want Natural Selection as the next single!
You definitely wanna hear natural selection the way it is on the album first. It fits real nicely where they put it I think. But damn that song is a wonderful ball of energy

That's really cool, it was one of the least interesting samples but it was clear that it developed much more. I've been reading a few people write about how great it is as a closer, so I'm excited!

Does anyone really think the next single is going to be a track that touches Lying on the grass on the album? I wouldn't count on that... (vertical and burglars)
Golden Gals makes th most sense from just how many times it's been brought up in interviews

heres to hoping that avey's understanding of gender is both nuanced and non-binary..... it would be a real bummer if I couldn't get down with the lyrics on such a hyped track

I can't decide if I'd like to hear something I've heard before (bathroom flacs of Burglars and Vertical), or something completely new as the next single.

Would never try to decide between SJ, Feels, and Sung Tongs but PW is just a notch under them right now and I have no doubt my love for it will only grow

Isn't that a kiddie pool as the drums at the start of floridada before the song actually starts? Sounds like one of those fiberglass kiddie pools being smacked with a stick to me.

I'm pretty positive the kiddie pool is the effected thump/snare sorta sound at the beginning of Lying in the Grass keeping the beat.

for what it's worth, as someone who listened to the samples a shit ton, i don't feel like it negatively affected my experience of lying in the grass, although it was obvi less surprising, was wondering how others felt
