I honestly think they don't have the money for what most people would think is a "good"/viral music video
They must pass on tons of offers for bank/car/whatever commercials and put what disposable income they do have towards touring and living.
I remember Avey posting about the crayola commercial that licensed Sweet Road. He gave a lengthy explanation of why they allowed it. Something to the effect of "We were okay with them using the song because it's about kids being creative." No one even suggested that they had "sold out". Clearly it's something they feel strongly about
Now that I think about it, Avey had a story about being approached by a music video business and just for the hell of it they asked for Michel Gondry. The music video business said, "He doesn't really do that anymore." And they offered Gondry's brother who had done some Vines video.

Does anyone have any recording information on Oddsac? Like when or where it was recorded or who produced it? All I know is that it came out in 2010, but it's production is a total mystery to me.

I remember reading on here that it had been a work in progress since 2007

@fov found that quote.

“hey…

yes noah and i ok’d our song being in that commercial. They sent us a version so we could see it before hand and found it really funny and i checked up some on crayola just to make sure they werent that bad of a company which from the info i gathered seems like they are ok.

I wouldnt expect to be seeing our songs in too many other commercials. We are pretty careful about it. We turn down mostly everything (alot of beer commercials actually…always asking for sweet road…go figure) and dont feel the need to expose our music that way. This particualr instance seemed cool cause it invovled somthing for kids and somthing which had a big impact atleast on me when i was young, that being crayola markers and crayons.”

Of course. They do make incredibly strong psychedelic music. Kind of goes with the territory...

My favorite of the CHz era for sure. The sound quality and the overall energy of the songs elevates it above most shows.
My current top ten boots would be:

1.arts place, 2005
2.lux fragil, 2008
3.henry Miller library, 2009
4.talvastia, 2006
5.glasslands, 2008
6.live @ 9:30, 2013
7.satelite ballroom, 2007
8.paradiso, 2005
9.cat's cradle, 2004
10.other music, 2004

I admit it wasn't released as an album officially titled "Live at 9:30" but it was also recorded live at the 9:30 Club, I was making a joke on that. I do love that 2007 boot though.

I listened to a lot of NPR back then and was subscribed to the All Shows Considered podcast so I heard that boot right when it was released. I had listened to Sung Tongs and liked it quite a bit, but that show is what had me totally fall in love with AC. I went out and bought SJ a bit after, dl'ed Feels, and I remember being stoked about the MPP stream when that was on NPR's website probably a year later. So that's how i started on my AC journey, but it all goes back to that 9:30 Club recording.

I just wish Bob Boilen hadn't decided to fuck with the volume levels in the middle of Peacebone.

Why is Feels the best album? I've been listening to it religiously at work. Maybe it's the otherwise bland nature of my desk and office that makes it sound so good?

i like sung tongs a lot at work as well, I do spin feels/sung tongs/strawberry jam the most. SJ probably still has the most plays for me.

As for why feels is the best album, yes.

I've wondered for a long time if Radiohead has a rivalry with AC. They share a lot of influences (dub, Madlib, Floating Points, Erykah Badu, Jazz, Aphex Twin) and have both been Pitchfork darlings for most if not all their careers. AC has to be on their radar, they've headlined the same festivals right?

Take something like Safer or Cuckoo Cuckoo (even New Town Burnout) and they compete with the best stuff Radiohead's done
