i like to think if he had gotten ahold of it he would have freebirded his watermarked copy right before he passed cause no one could have gotten mad at him. it would have been his final gift to the world.

Because that's how albums are released, they're announced ahead of time to build excitement. The dudes probably have some sort of album roll-out (videos, stream, interviews etc) prepared that will assist in building hype, although we've only gotten a song and a video so far. but this is a pretty typical release schedule for a band as popular as AC. They're not just gonna drop the album immediately
