The favorite release poll got me thinking about TTG, and since I had never really paid much attention to it before aside from a couple of listens through, I was wondering a few things about it.

Was anyone here at the actual exhibit? Were the guys there? Did they actually perform parts of these songs or did they just record it all (including the vocals) and play it on loop? How did they condense all that material into these two tracks? Were there any cool songs or sounds that didn't make the cut for the EP? Any other general thoughts or noteworthy trivia about TTG that's worth sharing?

from what i remember, yes they were there (in costume), and yes they played some of it live although a lot of it was randomly generated samples. i'm pretty sure the TTG release was randomly generated as well via that TTG program. i'm pretty sure the EP got mostly everything in there. it's been a while but this is all i recall. i'm sure there have got to be people here who were at the exhibit, although i was not

Actually I don't think they played anything live at the event. It was all pre recorded and like dud said randomly generated via a software program designed by Stephan Moore. Deakin, Geo, and Avey (Panda Bear recorded material, but was absent) were all present in full body costumes, and they stood behind these rock installations at the ground floor of the Guggenheim. Music was played out of a 36 channel speaker system that continued all the way up the famous Guggenheim spiral. Danny Perez designed all the video projections and lighting and I think the ground installations too. I believe the band let the computer program play all the samples randomly, but I think when they wanted to, they could manually trigger certain snippets or 'stems' like the several vocal melodies present on the TTG release

If I recall correctly Dance Avey Dance was at one of the events (there were two 3 hour events on one day) and she recorded most of the one she was at. It's a medative and passive experience listening to her recording (give it a listen), but what's great about the EP, is that it condenses the experience, makes it more engaging and includes vocal and melodic parts that aren't in DAD's recording. Also the album artwork kicks ass

Here is DAD's recording - https://mega.nz/#!XQlGyJhL!NnMDmO0k6pzi ... bMnd-7afpk
There's also a collection of each band members' individual stems that were played via the computer program, but it is no longer on mediafire. Jfw7 probably has it.
Here's the interactive website if you've never gone on it, including videos of the event and behind the scenes stills - http://ttg.myanimalhome.net
Here's an interview with Geo and Stephan about the event, the website, the album and the program - http://thecreatorsproject.vice.com/blog ... headphones
And here is a description of the event - http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/06/arts/ ... .html?_r=0

The vinyl comes with a poster of the computer program visualized through a logic map. It looks cool from a far and is even more interesting in context of the TTG project as a whole

you can still get the stems from the ttg site. i think you have to open the patch and press start for it to extract all the AIF files.

i can convert them to mp3 and reupload though. i think we're probably clear copyright wise?

I just found a folder called "ttg songs" on my computer with tracks like "It Still Matters to Me," "Witch," "Jailhouse," etc. anyone know what these are? are they from the set of TTG stems or are they split from the TTG EP?

they're numbered as tracks 1-5, 9, and 11 so I'm trying to figure out what's missing... not too familiar with the TTG material so not sure if I recognize any, help is appreciated!

"it still matters to me" is avey's stem D2 slowed down, and the rest of them are just stems. i think someone on this forum separated the more "songy" ones and made that as a fan album with fake names.

by the way there's an even slower slowed down D2 stem on youtube that i think sounds cooler than the one on that album, here:

does anybody still have the program that they released on the website that generates a 6 hour version of the show? the original website is down, and that program used to be my study jam.
