My tiered ratings of the Centipede songs:
Golden masterpiece tier: Applesauce
Still solid songs but maybe not quite Applesauce tier: Moonjock, Today's Supernatural, Rosie Oh, New Town Burnout, Amanita
Decent when I'm in the right mood for them tier: Monkey Riches, Mercury Man, Pulleys
I usually skip these tbh tier: Wide Eyed, Father Time
Also, am I just crazy or does the delay time on Avey's guitar on Wide Eyed sound slightly off to anyone else? Could just be me, but I feel like if you listen to the 2011 bootlegs of that song and then compare it to the studio version, it's the like the echo on the latter comes in a split second too early or something. It's such a small detail but it just bugs me every time I hear it. I feel like it had to be intentional because it seems like it would be such a glaring mistake if you're in the studio trying to perfect something. But even if it is intentional I have no idea what purpose it serves or how it helps the song in any way? Idk. Sometimes I don't notice it as much though so it could very well be in my head. I remember for the first couple centipede shows the delay on that part was actually completely different and gave the song a bit of a different groove. I sorta miss that version.

Like: the multiple layers of sound design and the songwriting of the first 4 tracks.
Dislike: the overall compressed production & mediocre/meandering songwriting that fills the rest of the album.

chz is amazing/perfect partly because of the emphasis on the instrumental interplay and shit and the overall "arrangements" i guess if u wanna call it that. it seems like such a left turn from the sampler based/more minimal mpp stuff and even seems more intense than feels/sj stuff in that respect.. and thats why 9:30 is sweet cuz it perfectly shows how tight the band is in that era. they rlly rock out here..

Fav tracks: Moonjock, Rosie Oh, Wide Eyed, NTB
Least fav: Mercury man
Shoutout to Monkey Riches for being the song that got me into Animal Collective in the first place
Shoutout to Pulleys for being incredible live
Shoutout to Father Time for being not nearly as bad as everyone seems to think it is
