4th and final listen.
The production on this damn song is really something else.
I personally already like this song more than anything on CHz (not hating on it, just personal opinion).

off topic, but CHZ had some seriously good ideas, I just think they were carried out in a way that didn't quite work as well as it should have. I give them credit for just sticking to what they wanted to make. I mean, it was supposed to be an Alien band trying to play Earth music wasn't it?

Yes, me too. At least, in terms of production. It's better than CHz but it's still not as good as their old songs.
I think the last great ones are those on ODDSAC and Honeycomb (for its melody). On CHz they were trying too hard to put a lot of sounds like on SJ but they didn't really fit into the songs structures like on the previous albums. It's like they were just put after the melodies were done. I miss the complex structures of the old songs, the way the sounds participated to the melodies. Floridada is well produced but still lacks this complexity which makes their songs unique. To me, the direction taken with Fall Be Kind and ODDSAC was more interesting. For example, Kindle Song always amazes me at how it manages to construct a memorable melody with "chaotic" sounds and singing, understandable only after multiple listenings.
Maybe I expect too much from them ^^ FloriDada is really good though. The bridge sounds like the end of Applesauce, which is probably my favorite song from CHz.

I've said this before but I honestly believe CHz might have been better received if Gotham and Crimson would have been left on the album...possibly making the album longer or replacing to other songs. I just feel like they would have let the album breath more. They are they emotionally-driven songs somewhat missing on CHz.
That aside, the other night I had a dream that I was listening to Bagels in Kiev. It was amazing! Really dense beats, but it was the ultimate jammer.

I may be alone on this but Crimson is the best song from the CHz era in my opinion, it just sucks that it was only a B-side

The more and more I listen to Floridada the more I like it. Trying to limit how much I listen tho
After listening to the Burgulars again I realized how damn good it is, and I might even like it better than Floridada. That's just the first half of the album, Verticals I'm not too much into yet but there's only a small sample of that song in shitty quality. After hearing Sonic Boom say he likes the 2nd half better, I can only imagine what the rest sounds like.

And yeah bro I agree with you there. Crimson was one of my fav CHz songs, Honeycomb and Gotham were better than alot of the songs on CHz and it kinda left me wishing that the album went in the same sonic direction as the B-side songs rather than the album songs.

The HZ track listing was the problem. It's like it should be someone else's job who decides what stays and what goes. They really screwed the pooch with this one. Pulleys and Amanita should have been the 7' while Crimson, Gotham, and Honeycomb were the stronger LP songs.

dont yal realize that b-sides being arguably better than lp tracks is the way ac rolls?? water curses, graze, wwiws, maya (not even tru b side..), crimson... even faces in the crowd/no mans land. like this is just a truth of the band but its kind of just cuz of how bad ass they are. a good problem to have... its just like how freakin strawberry fields/penny lane were sgt pepper b sides. all of these albums could be "better" potentially with more inclusive/optimized track lists but this is the world we live in y'kno

I don't vanna realize. I wish the album followed their 2011 live sets. They mentioned numerous times they were going for a live feel but it felt nothing like that besides the transition from Fathertime to New Turn Burnout.

ive been hoping.... it's not til next week tho.
i guess they could have a rehearsal space here and be doing live rehearsing? seems weird that just a few days after they would do only a dj set in LA, though.

Songs from their discog that goes with this sound for a tour? What would work off Panda Bear meets?
Obviously water curses, summertime clothes, purple bottle, slippi... leaf house?

It would be sweet if they did "Boys Latin" live with Avey singing the syncopated vocal/harmony and Geo bringing the electronic thunder.

looks like this is the reason they're in brooklyn, probably shooting press photos or video
