sounds like they were just noodling with the synth here...
but at least their noodles are fun to listen to...

finally got a chance to listen to this. and holy fuck. that pb mix was fantastic but this has got me excited on a whole new level (probs just in anticipation of the new lp).

i know they are just messin around and this is pretty freeform stuff, but this is like EXACTLY what ive been hoping for on this new album, at least sonically.

I really just think of this as a long-form transition, not unlike what they do live

This is fun to listen to, but it's a little disappointing that we have months of silence and only have this to sink our teeth into.

Judging by how little pandemonium there is right now, I don't think I'm alone on this.

But there's no need for major cynicism. It's a cool little jam and it was nice of the group to help out this organization.

Improv's immune to criticism? The band released something for public consumption; I should be allowed to provide some commentary, negative or positive.

This is partly why I'm against the idea of having band-members read these boards: we shouldn't have to worry about how our opinions are perceived.

That you would cut 5 minutes out of an improv jam is ridiculous, I make no corrections. You're both fools

And yeah it's immune from criticism. What harm do you think your criticism has

It's ridiculous to complain or moan about getting 'only' this. The band has never given us something like this before. That's what I took umbrage with. You can say what you like about the music, but again it isn't like this is the lead single--it's a first session jam. Criticising it is like instagramming your lunch: nobody cares

I think it is super special and super sweeeeet of them to release a recording of their first practice jams for the next LP!

I don't understand how anyone feels justified to be outspoken about any negative feelings about what it sounds like... It's not like they can change what their first practice jam sounds like. It's a glimpse into the process, not a finished work.

this recording is visualizing what the next album setup will be for me. Imagine vocals over these compositions, all members on some sort of singular instrument (synth of some kind), all three setup in a row Kraftwerk-style...

...i mean if this is the start of them jamming...they probably will ditch live drums and guitars completely...Down There Meets the Grim Reaper shit, YES!

Editing is a part of the musical process. What is so foolish about roark stating that? I'm sorry that not all of us are total suck-ups.

Yesyesyes. I mean, some melodies could've been more interesting, but hey, it's just a jam. But MAN, I can feel the magic again. I love the space, the exploration, the sounds. This made me very happy.

A lot of this is definitely just noodling around, but near the end it builds into something that's actually pretty cool and almost seems like it could be the basis for a song. It would be cool if that was an idea they capitalized on for the album. Sorta abstract, free form jams that eventually build into more rhythmic song structures.

Sounds like theyre expanding on the digital synthesized water landscape PB was doing on the Reaper ala davy jone's locker--at least I really hope so. Who knows. They couldve planned to soundtrack this footage..and not have it tie in at all

Although we 've all known "unofficially", I'm just very grateful that they made an official announcement that the band came together and started jamming as AC! I feel like we are all very anxious and on the edge waiting for a new album , a new song ..a new anything!!!!! Haha its been a very long time since we've gotten a AC project! So again, the "official" word that they are together making noise is fcking awesome!!! The wait is almost over guys!!

For real tho, when I listened to both at the same time it was pretty similar to what I have heard from the new record, haha

Watch/listen to it at the same time as Swallow at the Hallow, it's really cool! Just gotta tinker with the volume a little bit to get a good mix, haha.
