Someone's probably already mentioned this, but the tour schedule makes it seem like Panda's traveling between the east and west coast four times in five days.

they just list every day of the two festivals he's playing, presumably because it hasnt been announced which day he is playing at each yet. he's just playing miami once and san diego once.

ordered it on tuesday or wednesday night and got it today.. 160/2000, was surprised to see such a low number so they must truly send them out in random order. anyway, beautiful packaging, cool poster, and sounds great on wax. no cracks or damage to be found on mine. sweeeeeeeet

I think it's just remastered?
I still haven't heard the original master and I feel like there's so little point anyway, ha

Did anyone read that one review about the album ....by LSU i believe? ...FUCK THEM! I swear ive never got so mad at reading a review, and usually dont because its like whatever... This asshole (or assholes) just straight up took shit talking a WHOLE new level... Talking about how animal collective fans wont want to buy any tickets anytime soon? its like "motherfucker... dont speak for me!" This live album has only thrown fuel on the fire waiting for a new tour !!
then going on talking about how the vocal sounds were off, saying shitting remakes of old songs........uhhhh hello , this is Animal Collective, not some traditionally band that plays their songs Exactly like from the album ... Its one the most magically experiences ever!! II love the less talking and more music.. i like how they sing their songs and doesn't let the crowd sing half the song (like a LOT of other groups do) i didnt come to a showto her me or anyone else sing the song...I wanna here THEM (AC) sing the songs!! Sorry for this vent...but you guys are the only ones to understand this ....hahaha

I read that. Interesting read. While I do agree that this isn't the best work put out to date by the band , it is still to us an ac release. And that's why we love it.

The vocals are off quite a bit though. But I'm curious if they know/care?

I think it's a good overview of the tour and as close to a live greatest hits as they've ever played. It's not in my top fifty AC live recordings, mind you. I imagine my favourites would be reviewed even less favourably. I hope it sells well enough to encourage them to release more, though I very much doubt this is the case, nor that it's their intention.

Honestly this is one of my favorite releases by them. Not necessarily the best live performance or album by any stretch but nevertheless one of my favorites.

Lol
Not in your your top fifty?? What are the fifty recordings that are better than Live at 9:30?
Also, I think this is definitely one of their strongest official releases ever. Since they all had at least 2 years (in the case of DYSTW and PB, up to 9 years) to work on each of these live versions, the dudes were able to forget about the elements of studio recording, and focus on going as 'out there' as their hearts desired. And thank heavens they did! The only tune that I think the live version falls a little flat on is Amanita, and luckily it's the first of the set so a disruption in the flow is nonexistent. Everything else is as good as or better than their studio counterparts. LONG LIVE L@9:30!!!

Nobody has said it's the best official release ever. That would be ludicrous

I'll make you a list if I can be arsed. The post CHz tour is probably the most 'professional' they've done, and I totally understand the appeal of this recording. It's consistent, the vocals are pretty decent and they're both on good form. There's a diverse selection from their back catalogue, in the spirit of crowd pleasing professionalism.
Stuff like ITIC, NTB and WWIWS really work great, and Brother Sport/My Girls are very good renditions, if not to the heights they reached pre-MPP. They're fun but sound like they're going through the motions a bit. 'Spontaneous' whoops you've heard from previous performances. Honeycomb is great, one of the best examples of the CHz sound. Pulleys doesn't really do it for me. I like the drawn out jam idea but it doesn't really do anything interesting. It was intriguing the first time I heard it at a show but it's a bit underwhelming outside of that context. DYSTW is nice to hear, like PB, and they fit the CHz vibe pretty well, even though they're only slightly tweaked, relative to some of their other reworked stuff in previous tours.
Basically, a worthwhile snapshot of a fantastic live band on a good crowd pleasing night. ITIC comes closest to something genuinely exciting. It's no '07 Leaf House, but then, what is? As I say, most of the live stuff from Sung Tongs through to MPP, plus some PP/TB, ranks much higher than this for me but I'm not especially into the idea of a greatest hits promo tour. I understand why they do it and I hope the touring gives them some important financial stability but I hope it doesn't sap their intensity.

There are a lot of good ones. Without sifting through the backlogs I can think of the kexp session and the 9.30 club, both September 07. I caught the Emos Austin show that I believe was within a week of 9.30 and leaf house, wcwar, doggy, hey light were all sooo good... Then they were playing a lot of the mpp stuff and it was all new and just so next level

Its a live album .....it is what it is....Its silly to compare it to their other work? like wtf? far as the vocals being "off" ...first of all it plays along with the native of their music (my opinion) and again ..ITS A LIVE SETTING!!! Its not some studio with a controlled environment.. if they released every show from that tour, the sound is going to be different for every show.. almost goes with out saying, but i guess needs to be reminded. This album capturers what/who they are as live performers! The imperfections is almost the main reason of why they are my favorite band (group/musicians) EVER! I firmly disagree with that article. but respectfully with some of you guys as well.

vocals seem pretty on-point to me throughout the lp.. they seem mixed a bit loud, but since theyre good that's not rlly a bad thing..

The vocals being off doesn't really bother me, the emotion still comes through strong. But...I think part of it is that weird effect Avey's been using on the CHz tour. It only bothers me when I'm showing it to other people, like, everyone wants to focus exclusively on the vocals and not the song at large.
I find it weird people are comparing it to older live shows so much instead of the studio versions... I find the redone older songs are done really well and they're tweaked from the original versions anyway. These versions of My Girls and Peacebone restored my faith in those songs. Most people aren't scouring through their live catalog for their top 50 live shows so this is a treat for them.
Really great set. I'm a bit burnt on it now, though.

My LP just arrived! Super happy. And I gotta say, while Amanita is my least favourite on here, but PB's drumming in the outtro with the unrelenting triplets is just fantastic
