the grim reaper era has been AMAZING!

- we got 2 EP's and an LP
- the ATP soundboard recordings which is in itself a whole nother album pretty much.
- the best visuals panda(OR AC) has had yet w/ danny AND a badass website to properly view them.
- panda going all the way fucking out for live his live performances and just sounding better than ever and taking his voice in different directions (tropic(live and otherwise), LONELY WANDERER, selfish gene!)
- every song got a proper studio recording ... even gyeah is coming!
- MIX TICKS... (& another 30 minute mix of unreleased material to be released eventually)
- amazing live re-working of YCCOM & alsatian & preakness (which we even got a studio version of!!!)
- the come to ur senses segue into tropic... which makes me cry every single time
- SOFT SERVE RIP CURL...love that shit.
- production that has never sounded better or had more love into it
- SONIC BOOM being a bad ass bitch and keeping us completely involved in the process the whole time & giving us so much insight into panda and the music.

this whole era has just been a true labour of love and new places for panda. sure, some things were not as we hoped or sounded different live (which we have the ATP recording for anyways) i do wish there were a few more DROPS :phanto: here and there and the amazing g-yeah > jabawaqy transition (which is a true shame didn't pan out)

NONTHELESS. it has been an amazing experience and i can't wait to see where he goes next!!!!!! <3 u panda and sonic!

12. Butcher Baker
13. TSOP
14. Acid Wash

I made a playlist for these songs. It's nice to mess around with the order of things since the songs don't have transitions. I think this order works surprisingly well while still maintaining a narrative. I cut out songs I don't like our don't fit. ToC was the hardest to do away with since it's maybe my favorite from this era but it breaks the flow.

Panda is still the guy, but I'm really not huge into the stuff he released lately (mr noah, pbvsgr, crosswords.) It just doesn't give me that same old feeling. It's cool, and panda's got a dope voice, but it all sounds pretty normal, like not as unique as a lot of panda/ac. I honestly feel like he's treading water a bit. I do love to hear the panda singing about marijuana tho haha.

Come to your senses, Nadir or tropic of cancer don't feel special to you ?

Nah, I agree with coke man. Current Panda's stuff kinda lacks the same kind of oomph that his earlier stuff did. Most, if not all of the songs are the same couple of lyrics repeated, same background music with a couple of effects and stuff. It's cool and all, but I just can't get into it. Weird though, because I liked the boots a lot.

First time i've posted since the EP drop. so many pages were added lol. I'm so happy with the EP, it's seriously awesome. No Man's Land caught me so off guard. It's so giddy!!!

I'll admit- I am missing the THX drone and the heaviness of the Jabba beat. But honestly, it's still such a great EP. Preakness is overwhelming. Love u sonic and panda

Also, Pete, if you root through all these posts and see this, how much of a hand did you have of the addition of the bass lines in so many of these songs? I loved the live versions, but the addition of those poppin bass lines pretty much grounded songs like No Mans Land and Faces in the Crowd. They feel so much better with the bass- it's just kind of funny/unusual to hear such prominent bass lines in panda bear music, which has normally sat on a cloud instead of jolting the ground

Yo !
I think how it went was we did it on one track or other- ctys maybe .....and then it became apparent that Noah was super on it w the parts he came up with - tsop and butcher being a good example - so we just went thru and put them on all except nadir and tropic i think...
Ditto all the percussion . He wanted to do it and we just varied what was used on different Trax .
He's quick in the studio...... Kinda sporty about it .....decathlon vibe haha

I think the people who haven't been that gone on this era will come to appreciate it maybe a year or two from now. Structurally a lot of these songs are simplistic, as far as AnCo go, but that's part of the joy. Once we've moved onto the next AC record and era I think ye'll look back and see this era in a totally new light. Your disappointment will be assuaged

Nice dude. I like a lot of your choices. I'm trying to get ideas. We should make a thread for these. I've gotten sick of the album ordering after all this time so it's breathing new life into these songs for me. I'm usually reluctant to mess with stuff like this but it just works too well.

Yeah, probably. Admittedly I should force it to grow on me a little more.

I'm the same. I never usually make different track order mixes, but with so many songs the possibilities are fun and almost endless. I've been giving it some thought.

I think I want to try starting with Crosswords and going into Popadum, then ending with Cosplay into Acid Wash. Or what about beginning with Butcher. Lotta cool possibilities.

From what I can tell the plucky strings in the crosswords ep mix are louder as well. This ep fucking kills though, I can't believe how crazy Cosplay gets after the singing stops. Jabber is better than I wouldve ever expected too. My fav song from the era is still BBCM
