They mentioned before, years ago now, that they were interested in recording an album before touring it. And that would be a very new thing for them and they seem to like new things. So even if I wouldn't go so far as to say "they're probably going to do that some time", I think it's a real possibility.
That would be so nice. The Hype Train would be like, so many cars shorter.
Do u know where or in what interview specifically they mentioned that they'd wanna record an album before touring? Not that I don't believe u Hash, that sounds familiar to me too but I just can't remember where I read that.
It would be really nice bc I think I'm going to try and avoid boots or at least listen to them less than I did with pbvsgr. Probably not gonna be able to resist though

Yeah I'm going to try to stay away from the boots too. Killed my experience with PBVSGR. Love the album nonetheless but it was just so worn out by the time I heard the freebird and then got the actual album.

Yeah it was pre-centipede hz. And then Ben Allen contacted them after seeing them play the songs. But they might have ended up looking for an engineer anyway. From what I recall it seemed like they were just saying that as a possibility for some album in the future, not necessarily just something they wanted to do specifically for CHz.

Awesome to hear their recording in Hollywood, seems like avey digs it there (hope it's in the same studio as slasher flicks, really love the sound of it). The reason I quoted the picture is that seems to be a mix down tape. This can be used to either mix some things together to sweeten the sound or a whole track can be put through it to give it a tape feel. That would be awesome if they were already mixing the record! I doubt it will come out soon but I bet the dudes only spend 3-4 weeks in the studio (which is a lot of time) to get a record done. I have a feeling it'll be electronic if deaks out, hard to fill big concert halls (which they have been) with a trio. Plus avey and panda both love elektronic samplers/drum machines. And geo holds it down electronically in his own right. Would be cool to hear a band version of "the fly". Seems like a demo that geo panda would go for and jam on. I am very weary of them releasing it without notice because Domino needs that hype train / preorder $
The dude who knows stuff prolly knows more but there's no fun in prying
i don't think they're done recording at all, as they said they plan on recording in the fall (obviously plans could change). I think they're maybe done with the writing and have recorded a few things so far and think they'll knock the rest out in the fall.
Recording before playing is unique for the band, right? I got into them around SJ, and absolutely adore and would die for everything up to that record, and would harakiri for MPP too but would only vaguely stand my ground in a non-threatening way for everything Tomboy onwards. Therefore, I conclude that being part of the build up and boots is not good for me. I've loved going back to boots after absorbing all the intricacies of the album but what I'm saying is I'd love them to lay this on me like a big egg.
ok, so... timeline of known events
noah was telling people last year after shows around last september that ac would start writing for album 10 in the next month or so. you can find tons of posts all around this board where people talk about it.
noah goes on record and says he worked on the record solo for five straight weeks, believes the others did too. This was in early march (http://www.nme.com/news/animal-collecti ... ebehaviour)
He also says that they are going to record "later this year". I misremembered that quote as fall, probably because he is still touring solo for pbvsgr. Anyway, we don't know when "late this year" is.
8 weeks ago: The band is back together as a unit, source avey's instagram. They definitely had sessions, SB confirmed it in one of the threads. didn't way whether it was writing or recording (probably both, looks like they've been writing (late last fall) much longer than I previously thought)
now: the insta with avey in the studio, apparently they are recording in LA.
so, it looks like this album really could be almost done, I was way off. They've been writing it for a while, and have had a lot of sessions for it. I thought i had read that they were returning to the studio in the fall, but i misread and have obviously been recording the album for a while now. Hopefully this comes out soon-ish
I came into this thread and for some reason I read the last post first without seeing the author (I'm zoomed in on my mobile) and it took me a second or two to guess it was you, Stan.
Also guys it's "wary", weary means you're tired. I don't normally bother but now I've seen two different people do the same thing in the last two threads I've been in.
Anyway Stanshant summed up my thoughts about it. Even if they end up touring before the record comes out I'm going to avoid any live recordings and wait for the album.

I actually think that it could come out sometime later this year, especially if they're already recording. Here Comes the Indian and Campfire Songs came out in the same year, and while that was a long time ago it goes to show that they can put out releases fairly quickly if they're inspired to do so. But if not, at least we've got that forthcoming Panda EP to hold us over until 2016!

domino plays that long game, especially with a marquee act like AC. very different times than when they were releasing things themselves on animal.
january '16 is prob the earliest possible release date for an album. a spring ac album would be p chill tho.
If there were a few acoustic guitars and jazz drums a la spirit they're gone I would like that. But yes I definitely would love to see a lot of electronic components to the album
But honestly, more than anything all I want is just a new AC album. I don't really care what instruments they use or who produces it. They're the only artists I've ever found who make music that satisfies and in a weird way relates to me like theirs.
