hmm i think Applesauce is really fun to play. maybe i'm playing it tiny bit slower or something but who knows. keep repeating it and your muscles will catch up.

shut up voven we're not all as naturally gifted as you. please check you're talent privilege.
but srsly yeah its just all those weird rhythm changes. Like if I am playing on guitar and singing and trying to strum to all the hooks I get mixed up.
practice indeed makes perfect.

no i definitely don't play it anywhere near perfect, lotta rhythm problems for sure, but i'm just tryin to say if you keep repeating it, like anything, your muscles will get it. it's not like its that incredibly fast. yall can do it. don't throw in the towel yet.

Yeah I was trying to play along to the actual song haha, probably a bit too fast. Gonna have to try starting slower and working up to normal tempo
I love when the song switches to a 3/4 kinda feel at "When a farmer picks a good thing..." So satisfying

kinda makes me realize this and vibrato-y 2011 "Mercury" and honeycomb and crimson kinda make their own weird subsection of style ha ha especially in the early forms

What time signature is Moonjock? From what I can tell it starts in 7/8 and swaps between that and 4/4 from there

i had only heard the acoustic Wide Eyed and Pulleys once before! i think it was good although unintentional to wait so long between listening. they are incredibly special. i'm not very synesthetic compared to many, but here, there is something in these performances that is like such radiant and fervent light moving through the tallest trees imaginable...!

those acoustic performances! oh god how i wish there was video of those - i can only imagine how they played those out. i picture everyone on the floor, geo with a sampler, panda losin himself playin the bongos with his hands, and both avey and deakin playing some of the best guitar i've heard from AC since sung tongs. ooooh i wish i wish.

My guess is avey but I could be wrong.
The harmony on the verses in amanita is so subtle and amazing. Avey's voice sounds like a crazy keyboard.

Being able to hear and feel the bass changes everything. Somehow that single element snaps it all in place. I hear a space dub chuck-e-cheese band in 2030 singin' songs about their daily lives. Father Time hit me especially hard. Has a spooky October vibe to. This seems so right in 2015.

I replaced Wide Eyed and Father Time with Honeycomb and Gotham and this became a great album. Whack Crimson in just before Amanita and you got yourself a stew going.

Wide Eyed works in context of the album. Nice comedown from Applesauce.

the song itself sounds the same but the original lyrics were different
except the effects on the voice were much heavier live...and the ooooooooooo breakdown live sounded less like ghosts and more like avey crying
but ya basically the same song...those lyrics tho...

The "We must be somewhere" section in Mercury Man is one of my favorite moments on the album

Nothing. He was super sick. They were supposed to play applesauce before everything happened with him. They ended up cornpilling the Brooklyn show the next day.

Yeah I feel so bad for Avey that he had to just sit there. But I guess when you're booked for a TV gig you don't wanna just drop out, so they did what they could

he sits completely still at his keyboard with his hands on his knees, occasionally looking around

this is all true but what I don't get is why he doesn't do anything else? There's a keyboard part that he usually plays in that song but didn't in the fallon vid if I remember correctly. If I am wrong about that sorry/ignore this post, but I just remember watching that performance and thinking even though avey was sick and couldn't sing he could still do something?
I dunno maybe I am just demanding too much/it doesnt really matter he was sick and prolly felt like shit.
They clearly play their songs in a very specific/structured way so I can see how it mightve made more sense for him to just kind of dip out for the fallon show since its a panda heavy song anyway?

Probably a contractual thing. Like all four had perform. Otherwise I don't see why they wouldn't have just gone on as a three piece

yeah that makes sense. I guess the way they performed that material was sort of rigid, like there wasn't room or time for avey to add something else in at the last minute.

I think that the centipede hz music was difficult, after a while... the complexity and pace of it together. it was very much like , if climbing a mountain (as a metaphor! i have no idea what it is like to climb a mountain) getting lots of energy and making it to a much higher point but it is also colder, windier, not as much air and the energy has to be recharged. But, the transformation of having been able to reach that far and now having the new perspective from there both adds more horizons and would make the continued climbing from there feel more like effortful weightlessness, having passed through the most complex paths already.

I only just fucking got today that Father Time places emphasis on Father, like Mother Nature. And not on Time, as in 'time to be a father'.
