vry high, Centipede Hz got me feeling like a prodigal son

I've stopped paying attention to AnCo even when I'm trying to "catch up" with them. But right now this album is striking me as a very good Animal Collective album, the layers and layers of sounds, the way Geo engineers the smoothest transitions in the game, the way Panda hits the drums and plays Ringo at the same time he's John AND Paul, the way Deakin is just Ringo, the way Avey writes songs like Jerry Garcia and sings like no one else.

"Applesauce" and "New Town Burnout" are such classically Avey and Panda songs, respectively,

and there's nothing wrong with that. Makes me want to listen to the discography front to back. But maybe I'll just dance through the EP and single highlights "I Think I Can," "Safer," "Street Flash" ...

or "Always You" ...

oo ooo oo ooo

MOONJOCK has really been clicking with me lately, never even really liked it that much until the last couple weeks. But now it's one of my favorites, even the climax which was always my least favorite part.

And... "lean on it, lean on it!" Has always been awesome.

Although I still think it hasn't really worked as a live performance...yet

When I saw the band in 2012, Moonjock was one of the highlights from the show.

Holy shit the Fox Theater boot makes my least favorite song on CHz one of the best songs on there. Pulleys. I love the middle part, and isn't that the Scheherazade sample buried in the back somewhere?

I don't know if this has been covered yet but I think that Crimson should be included in CHz! Most people I have talked to seem to disagree with me and believe that Crimson does not deliver the same mood and vibe as the album. However, I think that it would fit perfectly either before or after Applesauce. After all both Applesauce and Crimson came out together, and I find that they compliment each other. In a way I feel like Crimson would 'complete' CHz. Anyone else agree?

Oh shit I never even thought about adding Honeycomb to CHz! That's brilliant, I think if both Honeycomb and Crimson were included album it would give the whole album have a 'fuller' feel to it, and perhaps more diversity, if only, if only...

Both Crimson and Honeycomb should have been on Hertz. Though I think that speaks more for me wanting Hertz to have the same, knottier sound as those two than anything. Seriously, going off of Honeycomb/Gotham and the boots, I had it sewn up in my head as sounding really gritty yet tropical.

I'm surprised people are actually agreeing with me. Literally everybody I've talked to hate the idea of even including just Crimson on the album

Idk, I kinda like crimson/honeycomb/gotham being separate. they feel and sound a lot like tangents that chz didn't need to go on, since there's already a lot to the album. and the smaller releases are strong enough to stand alone like they are

Yeah I like them better separated but sometimes I put them both on a playlist and listen like that.

I usually do it like this:

Moonjock
Today's Supernatural
Rosie Oh
Honeycomb
Applesauce
Wide Eyed
Father Time
Crimson
New Town Burnout
Monkey Riches
Gotham
Mercury Man
Pulleys
Amanita

it's weird as f to me when people mix the songs of the ep/singles in at random places unless they are recreating the live sequence. i always put the ep/singles right at the end, or sometimes the beginning, in the original order. but hey thats jus me

for most records i add them at the point where i would have to flip the vinyl. in the case of CHz this gives a nice little extra LP side and doesn't mess with the flow of the album.

Today's Supernatural
Rosie Oh

Applesauce
Wide Eyed
Father Time

Crimson
Gotham
Honeycomb

New Town Burnout
Monkey Riches

I don't see how, with CHz perfect transitions between tracks, you'd want to add or remove anything. the transitions are so perfect

the laurie anderson review of this is the perfect summation. it's very strange and dense and sounds different often. i finally heard all the stuff in the back of pulleys the other day. those brief high harmonies sound like breaths of the firmament ha ha sometimes it's such a great time

New Town Burnout is my favourite AC song.

I've been getting into C Hz more than ever recently, and NTB has been stuck in my head all week (in a good way). The middle section is perfect!! I also love the sort of out-of-tune sound of the synths that start in the "Lift...this...weight" section.

And those big, stabby synths that punctuate the entire song...UGH so good

The weird thing about Centipede is how often my opinion changes on my fav song from it. I mean, all the songs are so amazing! I think pulleys is my favorite right now, but since hearing it for the first time I swear every song on this album has been my favorite at one point or another.

Just tried singing Applesauce while playing the chords on guitar and it was just about impossible

Avey's vocal delivery is so fucking quick, especially on "they will be released every little piece does make a one," it's insane

As someone who loves CHZ, it hurts to sing this album because imo it's hard to sing regardless if you are playing a guitar or something else. I just feel like I butcher half of the songs lyrics/deliveries.
