I'm not sure when I decided I loved the band but the only reason I got into it was Random Access Memories. That album mostly fell flat for me but I was very curious about anco after seeing panda bear's video. MPP and CHZ were what I tried first and then feels I think then sung tongs then slowly the rest.
Listening to anco has totally changed my perspective on music and what it's about and how music is an experience and all that fun stuff.

When my older sister loaded Peacebone onto my iPod Nano, lol. I think it was 2008, and I was 13. It kind of scared me, and I didn't like the fact that it scared me, so I listened to it over and over until I was used to it. A lot of my growing-up artistically and otherwise was through numbing my senses to weirdness-disgust through AC.

I was a little late to the game but that Good Girl/Carrots transition did it for me. That song, Person Pitch, Panda Bear, Animal Collective. Everything about them is just perfect.

Funny story- I was in middle school in 2009. It was my birthday, I guess I was turning 13, and I got 2 $10 iTunes gift cards (my favorite bands at the time were Coldplay and Radiohead). I went on iTunes and went to the "new releases" page, and saw Manners by Passion Pit. The only reason I knew about it was my sister did a dance routine to the song Sleepyhead, and i liked that song, so I was like whatever, lets go for it, and bought it. A recommended album was MPP. Didn't know the name, or the band, but I sure as hell liked the artwork, and I saw the name "In The Flowers" and thought that was a really attractive name... so i bought it. I remember my first listen- when "if i could just leave my body for the night" happened, it altered the course of my life
p.s. i still love passion pit too

<3 this fandom thread. all these first encounters/early exposures
I was a freshman in high school when Feels came out, and I stumbled upon the "Grass" single while sifting through recommended artists on the iTunes Music Store (this was a different era). I played the song on desktop speakers alone in my basement, and then I played it again louder, and again, and again till I was dancing around screaming and feeling excitement surge through my body into this uncontrollable grin. It was like everything I'd ever wanted but never knew existed.
Funny that I ended up going back and listening to Sung Tongs before Feels (based on the strength of "Leaf House" and "Who Could Win A Rabbit" 30-sec samples [different era]). When I finished ("Kids On Holiday" was my jam), I moved through Feels (oh God, "Banshee Beat"), and then through the discography chronologically from Spirit, buying one CD per week (different era).
excuse me... high and realizing that I'm almost 25. missing my AC adolescence
:'(

I realized my love for Anco the second time I listened to In the Flowers. I just bought MPP and was home alone with my dad's amazing loud speakers. Before this moment I had listened to like 15 AnCo songs on Youtube and really liked My Girls and Daily Routine.
At 2:30 into In the Flowers, with those speakers shaking the floor, I was dancing like a lunatic and that was when I knew this band meant a lot to me. I just lost myself like I never had before and each time I listen to MPP or that song I get that feeling of nostalgia from 5 years ago.
