So, for fun, I figured I'd try to find some way to combine the ep and the album. Something that I found that sounds like it works well is
1 sequential circuits
2 Mr Noah
3 Davey Jones locker
4 crosswords
5 butcher Baker candlestick maker
6 boys Latin
7 come to your senses
8 this side of paradise
9 tropic of cancer
10 untying the knot
11 shadow of the colossus
12 faces in the crowd
13 lonely wanderer
14 Principe real
15 selfish gene
16 acid wash

What do you guys think/ what are your versions of this?

Faces in the crowed has to come after mr. noah for me. At the end of that song you have the distorted wavy "don't ask why" on loop which goes right into davy jones wavy sabers. Butcher Baker and untying the knot seem like companion songs to me. Those reverby cable songs at the end of untying the knot go right into some of the same sounds you can find in boy latin. Then Shadow of the colossus' glitchiness go right into the glitchy retro-ness that is the beginning of This side of paradise. The blissed out ambient outro of this side of paradise sets up for the anxious calm beauty that is lonely wanderer. This is how it makes sense together for me. Although I appreciate them separate as well.

Sequential Circuits
01 - Mr Noah
02 - Faces In The Crowd
Davy Jones' Locker
Crosswords
Butcher Baker Candlestick Maker
Untying The Knot
Boys Latin
Come To Your Senses
Tropic of Cancer
Shadow of the Colossus
04 - This Side Of Paradise
Lonely Wanderer
Principe Real
Selfish Gene
Acid Wash

This has Lonely Wanderer mixed in with it. Pretty cool. Is it a sample or was this just a very early rendition of Lonely Wanderer with some ambient goodness attached?

mr noah tracks fit well between side c and d, just sneak em in there after wanderer and before principe.

i've thought abt an alternate version of the album without side c maybe, so after ctys it'd go right into jabbawocky, then faces and popadum or cosplay. shit woulda been craaaazzzy, all bangers (but of course the way it is now is the way it has to be)

this method sometimes creates strange unexpected beauty and i do really like this; i wished to naively write a list, hearing many of the new album's songs for the first time, that would combine Tomboy, Mr Noah and PBVSGR!! The switches between albums feel more like different story arcs in a novel or film; the instruments and voices are more like different yet parallel characters and locations.

There are many unique moments of complementary ideas and sounds between the songs that i would have missed trying to form this list intentionally; for example i probably wouldn't have put Acid Wash so early but it has an amazing relationship with Friendship Bracelet! Both hearing some of the songs for the first time and experiencing that mixing the albums was possible, i am really surprised! this is something i would want to hear and reexperience often.
Together maybe it will be possible to form the most immersive Panda & PeteK universal album!

This is what I've got so far. It's admittedly pretty similar to the official album sequencing, mixed in with some of what he was doing in the live shows.

1 - Sequential Circuits
2 - Crosswords (with extended intro - mixed n from KCRW radio show)
3 - Mr. Noah
4 - Ms. Pacman (taken from KCRW radio show)
5 - Butcher, Baker, Candlestick Maker
6 - Boys Latin
7 - Come to Your Senses
8 - Tropic of Cancer
9 - Shadows of the Colossus
10 - Lonely Wanderer
11 - Principe Real
12 - Jabbawocky/Faces In The Crowd (I'm using the ATP version as a placeholder until we have the real thing)
13 - Selfish Gene (with THX outro)

Definitely Ms. Pacman after Mr. Noah. Fits well, starts with a brief transition so can't go after any other electronic transition/squiggle, it's familiar due to EP placement.

I like the idea of TSOP after Butcher, it fits the aesthetic of the first half of the record. I like Butcher's groove after Crosswords, even though I do sometimes wish either track had an actual intro/outro, instead of the in medias res.

Untying The Knot doesn't quite fit anywhere for me, partly because I just don't like it very much, I find it quite boring and it's one track where I think the 'mid tempo plodder' criticism is valid. I can't say it doesn't go anywhere but it's structurally very simple, just adding one new section at a time. It means the first half is just waiting for all the elements to lock in.

Preakness is great, shame it's only a demo version again, I don't think it quite merits all these releases compared to the vast majority of songs which have only ever surfaced in one recorded form. I'd be interested in a final final Greaper edition, of course, but when you think of stuff like YCCOM which has evolved so much live, or House or Brother Sport, etc. I wish we had demos and alternate recordings of them instead.

the last 3 high quality bootlegs got me thinking about doing a Grim Reaper Revamp (with live transitions mixed in, like the one i did for feels), but i think i'll wait until we've got the EP with the missing songs and the soundboard recording of the ATP gig.

I threw one together the week it came out and I've loved listening to it. I'm still tweaking it but the transitions from Red Bull and KCRW sound so good with the studio recordings. I think it's the best way to listen to the album honestly

I'd put it up to stream somewhere but I don't think that's legal :milhouse:
