I don't think the Talking Heads comparison works that well because I don't see Avey pulling a David Byrne and dissolving the band when he's had "enough". I think, like Rush they are in it for the long haul.

i wholeheartedly agree with you. i'm speaking in terms of commercial acclaim. i love the floyd like no other. heck, even momentary lapse of reason has a couple butt-wagglin' moments.

I see where you're going, but I still think the comparison is iffy. Dark Side of the Moon is one of the best selling albums of all time, and arguably the most iconic cover of all time, whereas the average person probably hasn't even heard of MPP or Animal Collective.

i mean, on a smaller scale it kinda makes sense. mpp and dsotm both have artistic iconic album covers. both have one big hit (my girls/money), the next commercially relevent album is a polarizing concept album and leads to a elaborate tour setup with notable financial repercussions (chz/the wall).

it wont be a perfect comparison, sure, i may have misspoken on that but
