OG Faces b-side for Boys Latin single.

Pete did not mention it as one of the songs that have yet to be fully finished production-wise. (Only Cosplay, poppadum, and Jabberwocky).

Plus it was a snippet in the Tix Mix.

You heard it here first, folks.

This makes sense to me, and I'm very hopeful. Would be pretty sick.

Yeah errybody who wants to hear Jabberwocky watch the vid Clayton posted. It's the jam

I don't get all the hype behind Jabberwocky, it seems very repetitive for me, even for Panda Bear. Im sure it'll grow on me when I hear the studio version.

Even though it doesn't matter at all because your own personal opinion is what counts but does anyone else want this to be a huge critical success? Like a 9+ on Pitchfork and what not, I think it would deserve it. But we will see.

i've spent a good chunk of the past year going dumb to the ATP recording of Ye Olde Faces/Jabberwocky and this is how it will continue to be when the studio versions come out

actually this does seem highly likely, all the snippets in the ticks mix were either album tracks or that one and they would have to be finished to be included, right?

This will get P4k it's ok like all Panda Bear. I think it deserves a 10 but I don't think it'll get it, that would be even more overzealous than MPP's January 9.6. Lol

Sorry to shamelessly plug this again but I covered Jabberwocky in case anyone is dying to at least hear some studio version of it before it comes out. I know I was, part of the reason why I made this.

I think high 8 to low 9 (8.8-9.1). I kinda like making these predictions. For me its a 10 or hard 9 but im much more generous on rankings than p4k, and panda's probably my fav artist. 9.1 would be higher than anything from them in a long time.

man this album is so insanely tightly sequenced isn't it. after hearing it all a bunch for a bit i can see how ms pac man & untying the knot & TSoP & popadam & faces/jabawaqy & cosplay all got cut. each song fantastic but no way to fit it into here there's some voodoo to the sequence

maybe the only one i could see is Jabawaqy really, in the big early suite of dance tunes somewhere

Just want to throw some love out there for BBCM. Best I can tell from this forum so far, it seems like a consensus least favorite out there (other than interludes, which I'm digging). It's not as immediately catchy as other pieces, I'll admit, but I see it more in the spirit of the most progressive and playful Brian Wilson (Smile), more so than the other tracks often compared to Beach Boys, like LW and TOC. That latter pair is my least fayv on album, which might give away that my PB sweet spot is the more futuristic, hip-hop-influenced (in rhythm and sampling) and electronic variety.

That all being said, I love LW and TOC, and I'm bored by Beach Boys/PB comparisons. How's that for consistency?

BTW, how about all the extended song outros (and intros) on PBMTGR? Sooo nice throughout. Really add to the whole thing as a piece. Getting a Pete Rock & CL Smooth interlude vibe to that sorta sequencing (an influence on Dilla and 9th Wonder, btw). Also, Depeche, PE, Smile ... etc. ... but really it's the Noahtorious Coat Wearer, Wizard of Odd.

Incredible work, PB and SB!

Can almost hear faint bits of proper tracks being mangled in the Octatrack on some of the outros/interludes.

Perhaps the more urgent question concerning critical prospects is whether Gorilla vs Bear will go ahead and declare it top album of 2014, or wait for its proper release year.

i dont really think it's any more repetitive than several of the other songs. it's also got the coolest synth and cymbal hits and vocal line.

i love it. it's super repetitive yeah but the melody (& that cooing aww) makes me feel all fuzzy. it's got a northern soul kick to it or something

The beat was the best beat in the boots, probably just ahead of Butcher. The synth/chord stab in the second half is the most instantly euphoric thing in this group of songs. Both sections have an amazing vocal melody, especially the 'I like it...' bit. None of it outstays its welcome. It absolutely bangs.

this album already feels like a legendary relic to the AC shrine. killer work PK&Noah.

listening now, just hit the slow panning vocoder at the end of sequential circuits, probably my favorite intro to a record in a while.

also pete, we just finished our album and im going to send it to you real soon heheh :)

Don't really put much weight in this, but it appears as though the early general consensus (outside of CA) is really positive toward PBVSGR.

Certainly not a surprise. Finally caved and listened... Man oh man. What a record. Admittedly my fandom has only grown stronger over the years, but I think PBVSGR has hit more immediately for me than any of PB's previous albums. Including Person Pitch...

I want to hear a Germanic Bach-style choir sing this.

Pueri Latin

Bestiis non cogitare secundo
Sed non bene nostra

Tenebrosi nubes

Has fieri obscura nubis, rursus
Fertur in tenebris et umbra

THanks! I knew it was weak A F but I just wanted to get the idea out there. So cool you responded! Can't wait!

If my Latin teacher came in one day and wanted me to translate Boys Latin, I would flip my ship! I really hope someone in class at least knows who Panda Bear is. Either way stoked on the real one. This was obviously pasta translata..

Whoa, totally. Also that's the perfect description of that moment in TIS.

It's a little irritating sometimes when people outside of this board always say "It's no Person Pitch" and seem to always have to compare it to it.

yea it is. I'm probably speaking for pretty much everyone on this board, but thats exactly why i love AC. they always leave you wanting MORE of each album (some albums more than others obv, depending on your personal tastes) but continue to release albums with different sounds that are equally as amazing as the one before. thats why i simply can never get enough of AC. its a shame people just expect a person pitch 2. some people just aren't open minded enough :(

Ha, victor beat me to it.

But seriously, why do people gotta compare albums like that. If i looked at every animal collective release after 2001 and said "well its no spirit theyre gone" it'd be absolutely pointless. of cours pbvsgr isn't person pitch, theyre completely different. different galaxies. different goldilox zones
