Does anyone else think of Taps when the horns play at the beginning of Tropic?

After re-reading all of the lyrics I can honestly say I have no fucking idea what any of these songs are about.

so I might be behind on this (I didnt listen to the boots & avoided this thread a lot before the freebird), but what equipment/software did Panda use to create the instrumentals on this album?

Sweet ANZAC cookies. Kind of wish the horn section was drawn out a little longer tbh

Lonely wanderer is soooo good the only thing is I don't know how I feel about the abrupt last minute of static. Feels a little sudden and excessive.

static? nah

love the ending of lonely wanderer (and the whole song).

this album is such a heavy thing. like dante used verse, panda uses pop music. all kinds: aforementioned underwater dance pop, antique lush waltzes, dreamy crooners, new new jack bounce, gut-wrenching 80s prom synths, neon italo claps. on top of that there's some kind of video game thing everyone picks up on (in the selfish gene samples too?) and the domesticity/dogs thing and god knows what else running through. i feel like people will be talking about this one for a really long time not just people who have been clamoring for it for months. i suppose we'll see

i thinnknkk selfish gene/nadir is about a life changing revelation, spiritual or emotional or something, and seeing things as they really are
no its not a song its just noise is the type of revelation i think hes hinting at
seeing things so clear as just a clash of frequencies uno
ull trip up again meaning ull get caught in the illusion of not seeing things as clear again? i had a dream where i comp[letely understood this song and ive been infatuated with its meaning ever since

i know right? i always think of panda that way. he has this amazing level of intensity/perfection/transcendence that is uncommon and makes everything so epic. i felt it since the first time i heard leaf house.

LOVE this description of the album! I don't think TropCan is technically a waltz, but the sentiment stands.

haven't been listening to this since the first few times, idk why?? what happened 2 the michael that listened to honeycomb 70 times in a weekend even tho he wasn't even that psyched on it??

but it's rly cool and im looking forward 2 spending more time w/ it... also people who don't like the idiosyncrasies of the records/the vocals, wats the deal w/ that? that's my favourite part, i love how playful they are // makes a change from the pretty but distant vox of panda feat. panda

also reading the lyrics, they are rly rly good? ive always liked noah's lyrics and have always felt he was to the point and powerful, but now they are still v expressive whilst being more abstract & poetic. looking forward to knowing what he is saying when im listening (might take a min tho) and be able to sing loudly and badly along to it

also would yall agree tht this is the most ~psychedelic~ thing that psych jam band animal collective have put out?

omg I feel so silly. I thought Make My Day was the first track, when I had just downloaded it a long time ago and it was under the PBMGR album. Honestly it works really well as a first track though.

find it's sounding great when you don't pay attention to the fact it's broken up into tracks and names, but just listen to it as an entire one piece thing

I love it...
Spoiler: show
only 2 things... thot Boyz Latin would have sharper cuts on the vocals, or whatever it's called... and I kept hearing sounds from the Mr Noah intro haha... From beginning to end I kept hearing bits of it but I might just be imagining that. I listened to it w. milkdrop last night and it's probably my favorite pb album... that second half is insanely good...

one thing I'm wondering about... what's the reasoning behind all the glitchy track intros and the two instrumentals? (Mr Noah, Acid, CTYS, etc.) Is there a thematic purpose to them or are they just there bc they sound sweet?
