i only caught part of the new one but it had a thumping beat (tho it's possible avey mixed it in) and minimal lyrics with a catchy and (i think) ascending melody. from the lyrics it seems like it could be this one http://lyricalcollective.wikispaces.com/Acid+Wash
if it is then it'll be a really cool closer to the album

vocals seemed pretty high and upfront on garage (crosswords?) and the chorus had some harmonizing. and the beat felt huuge. i didn't think i could get more excited for GR :P

honestly? if you look at Faces in the Crowd it didn't change much from ATP to studio besides the extra lyrics.

there were those live performance arrangements where he opened without the drums at first - i was fully expecting that to be on the studio version but he just gives us the full monty right off the bat. i love it.

i just find the production on the ep is simpler and beat driven like atp was, while i hope the album is spacious and layered like recent performances. i love the ep and i will love the album if it sounds like the ep, i just hope it sounds closer the versions on the last tour.

I think my only request of the album is for Tropic of Cancer to get the vocal echos back, but I have a feeling that won't happen. Not a huge deal though, I know that no matter what I'm gonna love this album.

that'd be a shame, i really don't think of boys latin at all listening to those echoes. they make an absolutely beautiful song even more beautiful

I mean we have no way of knowing for sure why PB stopped playing the echoes. It is a nice touch but I think it's a beautiful song regardless of whether or not the echoes are there.

I agree. The vocals in the rest of the song flow in long, loose, sustained phrases. The "goes to show" section, one-word pulses landing right on the beat and punctuated by silence, really forces you to focus on the vocals and sets you up for the "dead or alive" climax. With the echoes, you get a cool vocal effect, but the song doesn't do as good a job of grabbing you by the heartstrings, staring you in the face, and projectile vomiting Technicolor emotions directly into your brain.

Untying the Knot is special... Everyone's aware how this era has PB's vox a little clearer, a little louder.. It has the layered Guys-Eyes-esque vocals, but all those Pandas are really close. In more affected stuff it's almost like they're further. I was :smoking: and closed my eyes with headphones for untying. It's like church music. The deep pulse and watery shakes and all of those amazing little disorted whips and whaps in all the right places... First I've got Panda right in front of me "There is a song..." then on my right this panda shows up "there is a sound if you..." at which point I notice on my left the majority of little drum variations and a clave type sound. Then it's like a panda puts his hand on my shoulder and from behind and starts "Down below! ooh!"
And this is just how I was interpreting them at the time (which panda is all about with his lyrics, (why he simplifies them)) but each line was almost like a key to hearing the mix, and almost like setting me up for listeing to the full album in the right way.

TL;DR: Untying's vox were my key to hearing how intense the panning is THANK YOU SONIC

I really love the bass in 'Mr Noah' & i'm glad there are other songs that have it as well.

'Mr Noah' being the 1st single scored a bull's-eye & considering 'Crosswords' as another single it's a pretty good idea.

This album has so much potential & even those songs that don't really look like a single because of its length like 'Come to Your Senses' are going to be a HIT
