"Pop on some music trapped in its time
Mad men muse, brought tears to my face
Dressed in the form of classical rhyme
Light the dawn, electrical graze"
may be my favorite verse in any avey song.
the repetition, especially, at the end, sweet god, what a moment. what a tribute to art and ecstasy and also fire

mr. fingers is probably .0001% above safer as my favorite ac song
i don't know if this is the best description for it but their "tribal" sounding stuff has always been higher on my list than other material. mr. fingers, safer, forest gospel, the entirety of here comes the indian and maybe even campfire songs. don't really know how to describe them but they make me feel almost animalistic

i think mr. fingers is the closest thing to a psychedelic experience that i've felt from an AC song. once it clicked it really feels like it's 'beyond words'. altho it's not the only song from them that has had this effect on me, i think it accomplishes best whatever the dudes have set out to do with their music.

I agree with scarfacesam, that list isn't complete without Kindle Song and Working.
Working is a fucking amazing song guys.

Yeah Working is one of their best songs imo
But yeah honestly I just listen to:
Mr. Fingers -> Kindle Song -> Working -> Screens -> Tantrum Barb -> What Happened
The rest I might listen to on the odd day, but they don't hold up on their own.

That's because the rest of the songs on the album are essentially ambient tracks and rely heavily on the visuals. Still a cool visual album though...man I'm kinda mad, I think I lost my Oddsac DVD.

agreed. I couldn't think of the word for it for some reason but tribal is sort of the feeling it evokes. I think that's when they're at their best aesthetically, maybe not musically though.
Oddsac's beginning songs are really interesting because they sound like songs that would be hummed to a child (or parts of them at least). I can't think of the names of the songs it sounds like, but it definitely recalls some of the melodies of simple children's melodies. And I thiink that's so cool, especially with that really awesome writhing black figure (one of my favorite moments by them). Makes a story unfold in a way. that may be why they don't think the music should stand on its own...

If "Green Beans" is the one with the sweet red moving shape, then I agree. One of the trippiest things on here.
I'm just watching it again because of this thread. The visuals are unreal... I love the moments when there are so many things flashing on screen that you only catch little glimpses into each one (along with the fun slow sections of course)... some of them are very interesting and vivid. Creepy creepy stuff but also very good
Mr. Perez and Crew are very talented.

ODDSAC is amazing. some of the music is for sure up there in my top AnCO songs ever list. Mr. Fingers is like psychedelic experience! But Kindle Song really kind of paints an emotional landscape inside of me. shit i want to watch it all again too.

ODDSAC makes the Animal Collective discog much richer. Regardless of whether you consider it an "album" proper, I would say it is just as essential as any of their albums are when it comes to the "total AC experience," if you will
