Also… can I just brag for a minute to any movie fans here? That night I'm seeing my idol and favorite filmmaker, Paul Thomas Anderson, as well as my favorite actor, Joaquin Phoenix, at the world premiere of Inherent Vice which is an adaptation of my favorite book by Thomas Pynchon at the New York Film Festival… and now I find out that right after the screening I'm going to see my all time favorite musician Avey Tare (seeing AC DJ the night before too) play with Slasher Flicks and my all time second favorite musician, Bradford Cox, is opening for him?

What the fuck is going on? I hope I don't die before October 4th.

Sucks that there are three other openers so the thing is starting at 6 (hard to get a close spot without your feet giving out) but I'm so psyched about Avey, Brad, and Tobacco!!

Nevermind I just saw the schedule and bought a ticket. With 4 openers that I don't know I should definitely not miss any of Bradford's set when I get there around 8:30-9 I'm hoping.

Was so excited for this (bought a ticket) until I realized I wont even be here that night. If anyone is going to buy a ticket, I have one to get rid of. Really sad I wont be there :(

This sounds dope but Atlas Sound with Avey? Strange combo. But Bradford Cox is my hero

Ugh can't make this...have tickets to a Red Bulls game already :/ If they stick with the same set I won't be too upset since I've seen them twice but thinking about them throwing in another Avey solo song or something new makes me anxious!

Would any of y'all be interested in splitting a super cheap airbnb with me? I found a 6-person room for like $100 a night, what a steal!

Anyone know what time the slasher flicks are going on? That downtown fest website has no details. And is at the Webster or grand ballroom? See you all there.

You can do it!

Had to squeeze past a couple of peeps during Austin Panda show to get decent spot late and as I did said "sorry, I need to record', nobody said shit, it's for the greater good dammit!

As far as I could tell they were all new (as in not on records), but I haven't seen him in about a year and a half so maybe he's been playing this stuff. It was really bassy and beat-driven with samples and lots of effects on his vocals. Actually I'm pretty sure he played a re-worked Cold as Ice but that was the only one I recognized.

If we could have got there on time we would have :( couldn't get there until 8:50. We saw his last song and it was incredible. So different from the Parallax stuff.

Slasher Flicks was amazing. I honestly think it was the best Avey performance (energy wise between AC, solo, and SF) that I've seen from 2009 through today. He was so into it. My favorite part of the show was during A Sender when his guitar wasn't working so he just grabbed the mic and danced around the stage like the good ol' days.

The floor wasn't crowded at all, which was a beautiful thing. The recording sounds stellar.

He opened with a tripped out version of Shelia

Ah, dang. I missed the beginning of the set because I didn't know it was happening on multiple stages :(

Take your time on the boot, DAD! I really loved that moment when he grabbed the mic too, but it felt like he was holding back during the end of The Outlaw. That was my favorite part of the Bowery show and I could hardly hear him this time.

I haven't missed an an Avey show since 08 and I agree 100% His energy was so high and he just seemed so happy! His screaming was on point too!
