So I kinda just won another copy of Crack Box for $41...
Once I get both copies in, does anyone want to make a trade for one?

i will trade you my crack box for your crack box and $59 USD. I had to pay about $100 for mine so that's the only way it would be fair. oh mine doesn't have the purple paper band that goes around the box. sorry bout that, hope you're still down for the trade

Hey guys, I wanted to know your opinion on something. A few days ago, I was tired and left my Centipede Hz album on the turntable with the dust cover up. It was not my smartest moment. Overnight, it seems that my cat got onto the record and scratched the living hell out of it. Of course I'll be buying another copy now, but what would you guys do with the old record? One disc is still intact, and there's no way I could bring myself to throw away an Animal Collective record, no matter the condition.
Any ideas?

Does anybody know why AC releases their records as double lp's?

The less space used on a vinyl record the more EQ and dynamic range can be written in the grooves. So more records=better dynamics and overall sound.

Not sure if onebraineno is taking the piss, but if a record is over 45 minutes it will need to be split into 2 LPs. This is true for many of AC's full-lengths: Spirit, Sung Tongs, Feels, MPP, C Hz

haha b-side is 40 minutes long, 75 minutes total
why do you think it "needs to be split" ? they can be longer, they'll just sound like garbage

Lol Elks
Well, I have to admit my lack of knowledge of all things vinyl is showing. I actually don't buy vinyl records, only CDs, and I had always assumed that a record is simply unable to hold more than 45 minutes over its two sides due to physical limitations. Didn't know that you could force it to hold more, even if that isn't ideal...I stand corrected.

Is there a locked groove at the end of side B of the single lp version of Tomboy? I remember reading that there was one but I might be totally making that up? My old turntable would always pick it up the needle and bring it back before the end of Benfica so I could never tell if there was actually a locked groove or not. But I sold my white version cause it was warped and I got the box set which Noah signed in may

I don't think so. There's a difference between the promo and the reg?

Promo comes in a plain sleeve that has EP info stamped on
Regular has the 15 holes punched in the sleeve

So I just bought on ebay a promo cd of tomboy that includes a disc with the instrumentals. Is that new here? I mean, I know about (and own) the collectors box but do we have digital versions of the instrumentals yet? I'm kinda excited if not.

So here's the weird thing... I got it in the mail and it's not just the instrumentals for the versions that are on the box set. It's the instrumentals for the whole damn album.

i'd had that in my ebay watchlist for a year or so and for some reason never bought it cuz i thought, "well, i already have the vinyl rip of the box set" didn't think about the fact that that's not even all of them!
i think its a british promo and the instros were to be used as bumps for radio shows and the like. i remember hearing an instro version of a lower dens track on npr once and wondering where the hell they got it from. i guess that's a common thing for artists to do now

Whatever happened with this, did Feeling pull through with the PMs? An instrumental of Surfer's Hymn sounds delicious, I'd love to hear it
.
And I'm sure Panda wouldn't mind, considering this isn't even an official release.

So, this will reveal me as a bit of an obsessive, but I just got my 2nd copy of the original CD of STGSTV in the mail. Got it for $15 on ebay, couldn't resist such a steal considering what I paid for my first copy.
Anyway, my question is: Does anybody know anything about multiple printings they did for that release? They are very similar, but definitely different printings. The one I just got has a darker, wider font that's harder to read, especially the "all songs copyright 2000" part. Also the Animal logo on the back bottom left corner is a sticker, whereas on my first copy, it's printed on the jacket.
I was just a little surprised that they would've sold enough copies to warrant a 2nd printing, and also, wasn't it a limited press in the first place? Any ideas?

No ideas, but that sounds fascinating. There had to be about zero hype for that release, unless Dave and Noah promoted it through Other Music. How could it have sold that many copies? Strange

As far as the Spirit CD goes, there were two pressings of 1000 each (or so I think), that second one you just got with the darker font and Animal Records sticker is the first pressing they released, and the one with clearer font and the "Animal" printed on the back is the second pressing
