Still no word on when Animal Collective member Panda Bear's new album, tentatively titled Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper, is coming out, but he did just announce another tour. This tour hits NYC on September 22 at Music Hall of Williamsburg and September 23 at Irving Plaza. All dates will be opened by psych duo Blues Control. Tickets for the NYC shows go on sale Friday (6/13) at noon and 10 AM, respectively. There's also an AmEx presale for the MHOW show starting Wednesday (6/11) at noon and a BrooklynVegan presale for the Irving show starting Wednesday at 10 AM. Check back here Wednesday morning for the password. If you don't get tickets during the BV presale, you'll have another chance during the Live Nation/Music Geeks presales on Thursday at 10 AM.

I'm really glad he announced these, since I won't be able to make it to the Cincinnati show because of moving to NYC

does anyone here have experience with both venues? would you recommend one over the other?

music hall is hit or miss. last time i saw panda, the sound wasn't too great, but some of the shows i've seen there were the best i've ever been to.

irving is alright. not my favorite, but better than webster hall or terminal 5, i guess.

i'd say music hall.

easily the music hall of williamsburg show. it's about 1/3 the size of irving plaza and is one of the best venues in brooklyn.

irving plaza is mostly awful, though it's no t5.

this is gonna be great!

ok, thanks guys! i was considering Irving Plaza because it's a bit closer to where i'll be living (but the different in distance is pretty insignificant), but I think I'll try and find tickets to the Williamsburg show

What's cool to do after the irving plaza show? I might go to the lower east side and hit up pianos or something. Anyone got any ideas?

Anyone looking to trade 2 tickets for Irving for 2 tickets to MHOW? I have 2 to the 9/23 Irving show, but I can no longer make it (travel for work).

Would be way easier than selling mine, and separately buying 2 others to MHOW.

Either way, can't wait :)

hey guys, I'm slightly confused because Irving Plaza's website doesn't give much info about the show

do the doors open at 7 and the show starts at 8?

Headless Horseman is right next to Irving Plaza. Old pub feel. Haven't been there in a few years tho so might have a different crowd now

Set List:
1. Sequential Circuits
2. Garage
3. Ms. Pacman
4. You Can Count On Me
5. Boys Latin
6. Come To Your Senses
7. Tropic of Cancer
8. Mr. Noah
9. Nadir
------
10. Last Night At The Jetty
11. Scheherazade
12. Surfers Hymn

Great show overall but the set of songs at Warsaw was definitely stronger than this leg of the pre-album tour. Come To Your Senses was shortened, as it has been during these last few shows, which is a really strange decision...cuts the song completely in half. Standouts were Ms. Pacman, Mr. Noah, and YCCOM. Recording will be up either tonight or tomorrow.

Onebraineno - are you recording/can you record the Irving Plaza show tonight? I wonder if The Preakness and/or This Side of Paradise will make an appearance.

I really loved this set list, along with the performance itself. Definitely more of a trippy vibe than the Warsaw show (for me at least).

That said I thought the mix left a lot to be desired...or maybe less, depending on how you look at it. The bass was incredibly overwhelming at times and the treble was pretty shrill, though the one upside to it was that you could physically feel the music rockin' your bod. Totally visceral.

If anyone is able to pull a clear sounding recording out of this I'll be pretty impressed.
