Still no word on when Animal Collective member Panda Bear's new album, tentatively titled Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper, is coming out, but he did just announce another tour. This tour hits NYC on September 22 at Music Hall of Williamsburg and September 23 at Irving Plaza. All dates will be opened by psych duo Blues Control. Tickets for the NYC shows go on sale Friday (6/13) at noon and 10 AM, respectively. There's also an AmEx presale for the MHOW show starting Wednesday (6/11) at noon and a BrooklynVegan presale for the Irving show starting Wednesday at 10 AM. Check back here Wednesday morning for the password. If you don't get tickets during the BV presale, you'll have another chance during the Live Nation/Music Geeks presales on Thursday at 10 AM.
ok, thanks guys! i was considering Irving Plaza because it's a bit closer to where i'll be living (but the different in distance is pretty insignificant), but I think I'll try and find tickets to the Williamsburg show
i snagged tix for the irving plaza show and will do my best to record it as well...until then, i'll continue to refine my dark cloud boogie in antisipation...
siiigh i'm gonna be a short 20 minutes away from the irving plaza show that night but unfortunately it's for an overnight college visit and i don't think it'd be cool to sneak away haha... )-:
have an extra ticket for monday night if anyone is in need. twenty bucks for a thirty dollar ticket, if anyone is interested. would also be willing to trade for other goods..
Set List:
1. Sequential Circuits
2. Garage
3. Ms. Pacman
4. You Can Count On Me
5. Boys Latin
6. Come To Your Senses
7. Tropic of Cancer
8. Mr. Noah
9. Nadir
------
10. Last Night At The Jetty
11. Scheherazade

Great show overall but the set of songs at Warsaw was definitely stronger than this leg of the pre-album tour. Come To Your Senses was shortened, as it has been during these last few shows, which is a really strange decision...cuts the song completely in half. Standouts were Ms. Pacman, Mr. Noah, and YCCOM. Recording will be up either tonight or tomorrow.
Onebraineno - are you recording/can you record the Irving Plaza show tonight? I wonder if The Preakness and/or This Side of Paradise will make an appearance.
I really loved this set list, along with the performance itself. Definitely more of a trippy vibe than the Warsaw show (for me at least).
That said I thought the mix left a lot to be desired...or maybe less, depending on how you look at it. The bass was incredibly overwhelming at times and the treble was pretty shrill, though the one upside to it was that you could physically feel the music rockin' your bod. Totally visceral.
If anyone is able to pull a clear sounding recording out of this I'll be pretty impressed.
dad - i'm planning on recording tonight...i've got VIP balcony tix and i'm bringing my H4n w/my CA-14 externals & pre-amp as well as my H1 as a secondary back-up, just in case...
