I can't exactly pin-point my moment, but a fond memory I have is hearing We Tigers for the first time and going crazy and singing a long.

Do you guys have any moments like this? :)

That must have felt amazing.

I can't imagine seeing them in person, after seeing hundreds of pictures and videos and getting somewhat of an insight into their personality through their music. It'd just be crazy to see them in person...

especially on acid haha

I printed off the lyrics for all the albums to read along as I listened. It was then that I realized their genius.

I saw them live before ever hearing their music.
I've been hooked since.

in 2004 i started taping music off the college radio station in houston and one day i came home from school and the last half of alvin row was on and i was instantly transfixed. i barely had it within me to start the tape. on the next tape i caught essplode. i fell in love with the frequencies which, paired with the melodies, did it for me. love. i liked the childish quality of those two particular songs. i started to identify their sound and when i heard who could win a rabbit a short time later i could already tell it was them w/o even knowing it. oh and when i heard the feels songs live (on a bootleg, not in person, i would've died) it was beyond love. i've been in it ever since.

Pretty much immediately. The day after I first heard them I listened to a couple of their albums and a few live videos and I was pretty much obsessed with them from that day onwards.

I got hcti first and didn't really get into it. then a friend gave me a burnt copy of sung tongs and it absolutely blew my mind in half. it was then I became obsessed and went back to hcti and basically have been a tragic fan ever since.

The first I saw/heard was the Letterman performance of Summertime Clothes.

In The Flowers was what got me hooked.

Sung Tongs was their first earlier stuff I listened to.

The night I listened to Spirit They're Gone in it's entirety for the first time was when I knew they were my favorite band.

Having Alvin Row as your first AC song would be incredible.

sampling some of their tunes on the web to see what they were all about, Visiting Friends sounded pretty neat so I put the whole song on. It blissed me out so hard so I took the plunge.

I was in the middle of a pretty heavy acid trip and a friend of mine handed me headphones playing DYSTW?, and it blew my mind immediately. I'd never heard of them before that moment. 4 years later I'm still riding the wave from that first listen.

Truly powerful music.

I just found a video from the first show of theirs I was at. And a quote from them about the tour.

"none of the new songs are strawberry jams. we've played most of them for the past 1.5 years so to us they aren't new. however, it's inevitable that people will assume they are hearing the next record when they hear we're playing mostly new stuff. i've even seen it written in show previews. we have about 9 new songs on this tour that we put together in just the last two weeks, plus the reworked older jams. it was an intense but fun practice sesh. so yeah, we're two albums ahead now just like when, as you said, we played all feels songs before sung tongs had come out."

I realized it about 2 years ago, right after I had fully listened to everything post-sung tongs. I was trying to get my brother into the band and I knew he would like Feels for some reason. I put on the whole album and we discussed why I liked the band. Then Banshee Beast was playing and we just had a moment of pure bliss. Neither of us knew the lyrics, or noticed the subtlety of the song, but we both knew that this song and band were special. I think Banshee Beat will always remind me of my brother because of the days we listened to that album in the summer.

Was diggin MPP already, but when I got really stoned one Friday and put on Strawberry Jam for the first time, my view of the world literally shifted. We were at Reverend Green and I had this crazy realization about the point of a band, what you could do with sound, how you convey certain emotions with sound and all kinds of craziness. It was very overwhelming.

i can narrow it down to a specific sample in a song lol (bird whistle thing in Unsolved Mysteries intro)

when i first moved away for school i rented a shitty basement room and i was lonely, depressed and extremely socially anxious all the time and i was sitting there alone and decided to get stoned and listen to a new album (SJ) that i had randomly downloaded.

when that song came on my headphones it was like watching all these beautiful flowers bloom out of some horrible desolate landscape. like the way the samples were layered in the song just opened up a whole new dimension of music for me and it was so exciting. it was possibly one of the first times i had felt real joy that year. 5 years later and i'm generally a happy person and i don't think i could have done it without AC.

This is one hundred and ten percent factual

Pretty sure I had a similar reaction, quickly followed by laughing at how ballsy I thought it was to open up an album that way. That was the first AC song I ever heard, the "holy shit" moment came just a few days later when I heard Safer for the first time.

i thought of peacebone as a stupidly challenging song that took way too long to turn into "normal" music. the beat comes in so quick i have no idea what i was thinking

By the time Reverend Green hit, I was hooked. AC completely changed my perspective. Up until that point, I was an angsty teen blasting abrasive, introverted rock n roll. Absorbing Strawberry Jam opened my mind and put the thought in my head "it's okay to feel good and listen to pleasant music". I'm a happier person because of this band.
