Pure pleasure to the ears.
Untitled and Spirit They've Vanished are arguably my favorite tracks on there :)

Last 4 tracks is the best stretch of music in AC's discography for real

I remember in an interview he said that those lyrics at the end don't mean anything, he just thought it sounded cool and he wanted to avoid it being cliched. Plus Dave wrote the song about his sister, to encourage her for something, and i'm pretty sure it wasn't written for the album but the other guys told him it was awesome so he threw it on. Just some cool trivia

At least you've still got some exploring to do!
Danse is better than HCTI imo, but it sure takes time to appreciate

Ha I remember back in high school I had this poetry assignment to do. to basically write our own poem. I put it off till very last minute, literally. The day it was assigned, I didn't even start. So I went on Google to look up the lyrics to April and the Phantom and I wrote it word for word and I used the same title. I got like a B+ on it, so it was an easy grade. Still laugh about it to this day

Haha nice, don't know if Avey would be happy that his lyrics are only B+ standard!

Teachers don't read kids' work until they do standardised testing. They just hammer gin and benzos most of the time. Maybe eat a cookie at break. I love it!

I would probably give them a hug and lose my job. I didn't get into Animal Collective until I was about 24 so I would have to respect the lazy urchin.

This album is perfect for early fall. Seems to me about the transition from a kid/teenager leaving home to go study in a big city. You come back during weekends and holidays, go walk in the wood with friends and psychedelic. You realize you are changing. Everything from your childhood is there, but now you gaze through it with a an eye that is distorted by being older, living elsewhere and having responsabilites.

The constant hiss and feedback on the album represent the blur you experience as a young adult trying to re-experience his youth.

I find early Mercury Rev (first two albums) to be fairly similar, especially Boces.
Whereas for hollinndagain and danse, i can't really point to anything

yea i agree its almost like if early mercury rev made a folk album instead of a rock album.

Boces rules too, i need to throw that cover in the favorite album art thread
