Best Deep Cuts Off Every Album

Spirit - Penny Dreadfuls - whiny, sounds like nothing else they've done, pure emotion, essence of AC.
Danse - Difficult to say because I only like the more songy songs here but Lablakely Dress is maybe the best whole discography deep cut
Hollinndagain - I See You Pan - I skipped it for years, should have skipped dunce class instead.
Campfire Songs - Difficult to say because they're all deep cuts except Doggy. Gonna say De Soto de Son because your typical chode would have never made it that far but it's hard to say.
Ark - Two Sails On A Sound - kind of difficult because it's basically a perfect album where every piece is an absolute colossus and has its own place.
Sung Tongs - Mouth Wooed Her - essence of Sung Tongs for me, if you're a total dink yeah maybe you think the album should have finished by now.
Feels - Daffy Duck - another one where I'm a total idiot, lock me up and serve me gruel. Utterly captivating. Lyric is God tier. Atmosphere is unparalleled, even on Feels.
Strawberry Jam - so difficult to say because they're all amazing and bring their own unique flavour to the record, like HTCI. I'm gonna say #1 because your average wanker wouldn't get it.
MPP - Lion In A Coma - you don't realise how emotional it is until you grow up and stop being a total dick, completely unique in their discography, instantly transports you back to life in Wuhan.
Oddsac - Urban Creme - actually transported me one evening a long way away and I don't do drugs.
Pullhair Rubeye - Palenka
Person Pitch - I'm Not - the song that prompted the thread, this is the essence of PB for me, this is him at his best, most transcendental and abstract, nothing but gorgeous noise, on a par with Laughed For A World, just pure ecstasy, not for the shit munchers.
Apart from that I'm not so informed/bothered but please carry on

I'm aware these words have a negative connotation (wreckage, unwanted material), but it's supposed to be cheeky. They're both made up mainly of deeper cuts and less hyped songs. I also stumbled across a few happy accidents while assembling these two mixes but I'd rather folks find them on their own if anyone is willing to dive in. Peace

my picks! theyre are so many
spirit - spirit they vanished: one of my fav songs ever...first song and they knock it out of the park, the song being daring in how it uses its feedback but sincere in the subject matter and the delivery
danse - in the singing box: sort've highlights how much fun danse can be!!
hollin - agreed w u on see u pan for sure, that song is so awesome. love how they just meditate on the noise for like 5 minutes, it gives the song a natural progression and then it expldoes into pride and fight.
ark - too soon, one of my fav ac songs of all time, it's so sad but at the same time bittersweet and joyous. perfect microcosm of that entire era...
sungtongs - whaddit i done EASILY, the MOST slept on ac song ever, the wahwah is a pleb filter but if it didnt have that (judging by the live sung tongs) it would prob be most ppl's fav song on sung tongs alongside winters love and kids on holiday. those last lyrics, cause i neeed, YAAAAA
feels - tiQUID
strawb jam - gotta go w #1 tho i feel every song on the jam is pretty well appreciated. when u have rev green and fireworks right next to eachother tho...
mpp - no more runnin, one of my top 5 ac songs...loved the slower songs like this and on a highway
chz - crimson
painting - goalkeeper, that chorus is pure pop ac bliss. haters BUZZ OFF

I agree with this all too well except for SJ and PW.
Strawberry Jam - Cuckoo - one that turns some people off in my experience because of the chaotic drumming, though of course that's pb going "cuckoo" himself. The most beautiful song on SJ imo. And I don't think they've played it live since that era.
Painting With - Natural Selection - maybe I just always wanted pb to make a techno punk song like this? Always felt it could use more love. Great effect achieved in the chorus by the hocketing.
Some others...
Sleep Cycle - Good House - one of my all time fav AC tracks that is beautifully fragile and meditative. Never understood why Golden Chords got all the attention over this one.
Tomboy - Scherezade - panda is a great sunshine vocal guy, but I love it when he goes eerie like this.
Buoys - Crescendo - it's not the catchiest but the psychedelic textures throughout are some of AC's best.
Slasher House - Modern Daze E - this sounds harsh but I used to be uncertain of what this song added to ETSH. However, it's now my most played track from the album as it's a fun shorter song.

spirit - untitled - so much more than just a noise track, it's like communing with a creature from another world and trying to interpret its feelings, or figure out if its in pain or just singing. I love it.
centipede hz - rosie oh - such a fun melody, it's like a song from a kids' show, but there's something wicked and sinister inside it, like the best kids' shows
painting with - spilling gutspilling gutspilling gutspilling guts - some of the prettiest harmonizing in all of ac near the end

cool thread Stan-man <3
cuckoo on SJ is almost certainly what fully got me into the band and like spirit-connected and tethered me to following them and devouring everything. I was checking out SJ because MPP hype was happening and I wanted to jump on the bandwagon and remember thinking Peacebone was just awful (lol). Cuckoo woke up my soul so my ears could grow up and become appreciative of aural goodness they were cooking up.
also most of mpp hurt my ears at first and sounded same-y til No More Runnin.
The very first performance of Mercury Man at Petaluma show overshadows it a bit, but man I really love that song on ChZ. I also feel like Moonjock is almost under appreciated. Applesauce maybe too, but it at least had a full video (I actually love Abbey's visualizer for MJ). Avey's songs on chz kill me in general (except for monkey!!!!)
On Delay and Spilling Guts shoulda been singles maybe. Bagels too. PW side b starts out reeeeeeeeeally nice.
Agreed with Stan re Im Not, but also I really like Searching for Delicious, and I'm usually not that much of an ambient bro.
Heads Hammock is upper tier DT after the opening trio and Lucky 1.
Master and I Know I Don't coulda been singles maybe.
last thing: the summer of '09, when I had fully digested MPP and SJ and had fallen in love (junior in HS I think), I then made the move to just get evvvvverything. And I was fukin delighted to find that stuff like From a Beach, Fickle Cycle and Baby Day were my absolute faves and they weren't even album songs or officially released in Beach's case. that's when u know a band's special. magical summer, From a Beach that summer was like actual goddamn magic.
o also Selfish Gene is Panda's best song, shoulda been a single over fucking goddamn Mr. Noah

Modern Daze E completely rocked my world in 2014. Sweetest song, along with Ascender and Catchy is Contagious. (all in the same key, real sweet spot for Dave)
edit: oh and Your Card is crazzzzzzzzy. one of their best closers

ark - too soon is absolutely unreal
sung tongs - WHADDIT I DONE is literally a top 10 animal collective song and i will defend this till i die. makes me cry just thinking abt it .... but wait i just remembered TUVIN is fucking incredible and i never hear any praise about it but this song is IT
feels - bees?!?!?! or daffy duck both get pretty underrated in favor of the rockier songs on here
sj - is cuckoo a deep cut????? it is one of my favorite songs ever i don't know how anyone could underrate this, literally peak anco. #1 and unsolved mysteries are also extremely good .damn the sj era is raw
mpp - no more runnin ... every1 said this cuz its true
chz - pulleys gets a bad rep it's fucking epic and catchy and has cool lyrics and is COOL
pw - spilling guts is sooooo underrated i dont understand why ppl hate this song it's so bouncy and fun
buoys - cranked is really really cool and it was maybe my fav song in the boots, love the loud af neverending live outro
PBVSGR - Untying the knot was my most played song of 2018 seriously am i just blind or does no one talk about this one
PB SELF TITLED - This is all deep cuts and liebe auf den ersten blick is very veryy lovely and the best song

Mouth Wooed Her is great, one of the best songs on the album. I think the last three songs all in a row feel a bit much for me sometimes, but Mouth Wooed Her is the strongest of all three and also comes first anyway so doesn't have that feeling at all.
The Softest Voice and Mouth Wooed Her are like bookends for me in terms of a "you're deep in Sung Tongs territory" feeling. The Softest Voice is when it feels like the album has really begun after the first two tracks got my attention, and after MWH is when it's started wrapping up.

My deep cut for Danse is In The Singing Box. Doesn't get any love but it's one of my favorite AC album closers.

Unpopular opinion, In the Flowers should've been the closing track on MPP "I'm gone I've left flowers for you there" would've been an absolutely heartbreaking closing line for the album. Tangentially related bc that would two closing songs in their catalogue named "In the _____"

I got into Good Loving Outside after the recent Sung Tongs live shows. That rendition is lovely and plainly shows the magic of that song imo
I'd have to say The Softest Voice is my favorite now though

So glad you said this! Usually see nothing but negativity towards natural selection, and it's always been one of my favourites on pw
