It's a bit straight for my tastes. The melody is default Peebler preset karaoke improv. Synths sound cool and pretty fresh but beat is redundant. Don't really get it's. Skippable album track tier. Sequential Circuits or Rob Frost tier, at best.

Nice simple song with strong bass.
There's a cool hard pan to the left at 2:25. Wish he fucked with the outro more, but its cool as it is. Some of the background vocal runs are sick too. I can never take those trap hi-hats seriously tho. I hear em on peoples phones every day waiting for the bus/train so it kinda feels tacky to me. But its always inspiring to hear AC/PB go for new sounds.

I like how the video has the classic rap video "walk towards the camera" style. Also liked how the video continues after the song is over.

I was thinking about the comments he made about wanting to sound more contemporary so his music was more relatable to a younger audience. I think if I were an outsider (not a superfan) I think I would totally see this and buoys as total mid-life crisis. Good thing I'm not!

largely agree with this, i think having the context of his recent work (including collabs, like that 'yeah' at 1:07 is absolutely because he's been hanging out with dean blunt lol) makes it a lot easier to understand where he's coming from. and likewise, i think this track gives really interesting context to what he's doing on buoys, which on the surface could almost come across as basic singer-songwriter & acoustic guitar stuff.
he's doing a lot of super interesting stuff right now that I wouldn't even come close to taking seriously if i wasn't already a fan and invested in giving thought to his/the band's work.
