Ballet Slippers

Ballet Slippers is a 3xLP live release marking the 10th anniversary of Merriweather Post Pavillion. It features live recordings from multiple shows across the North American 2009 tour, sequenced to feel like a full concert experience complete with song transitions and interludes.

“It’s impossible for us to remember the years around Merriweather Post Pavilion without thinking about the live experience. As the record turns 10, there has been a lot of talk about the album itself, but so much of the time living with those songs was spent on stage together. Every night on tour, the music opened up again, leaving us new spaces to fill and new opportunities to rethink our past. Just as Merriweather documents the era in one of its forms, we wanted Ballet Slippers to do the same for some of its other forms.”

1. In The Flowers (June 2, 2009 Boulder, CO)
2. Who Could Win A Rabbit (June 9, 2009 Ft. Lauderdale, FL)
3. Summertime Clothes (June 9, 2009 Ft. Lauderdale, FL)
4. Bleed (May 30, 2009 Las Vegas, NV)
5. Guys Eyes (June 9, 2009 Ft. Lauderdale, FL)
6. My Girls (May 20, 2009 Las Vegas, NV)
7. Banshee Beat (June 2, 2009 Ft. Lauderdale, FL)
8. Lion In A Coma (June 9, 2009 Ft. Lauderdale, FL)
9. No More Runnin' (May 29, 2009 Los Angeles, CA)
10. Lablakely Dress / Firewords (June 9, 2009 Ft. Lauderdale, FL)
11. Daily Routine (May 30, 2009 Las Vegas, NV)
12. Brothersport (June 2, 2009 Boulder, CO)

Fuck yes, this is gonna be good. So cool to get an official release of these live versions especially Bleed, Banshee and Lablakely Fireworks

Seems weird to splice together different shows instead of just using one full show but hopefully that just means they took the time to pick out the best performances

i'm sure, plus it says they used the live transitions too so they could piece it all together.

can't wait for this! cool that the release date is 11/22, so soon.

Brilliant news. Tiny tiny bit sad that WCWAR is there over the Leaf House of the era but I can't be too disappointed. This sounds amazing.

Yes the fireworks intro noises are an iconic part of that era and to omit them would be a disservice to the MPP legacy

Can't believe it's been 10 years already. This album was such a landmark in my life. What a blur the past decade has been since I first heard avey ask if he just could just leave his body for the night...

Yeah, I'm not actually complaining about it, it looks like an amazing set. They could have probably included twenty amazing songs and versions from that incredible era. OG Taste. Grace. Doggy/Hey Light. WWIWS? Even the new Winters Love. But we got them in various forms, and about three years of incredible boots. This is just a great way to celebrate the era, really.

Agreed. The triple gatefold is beautiful too, overall a very solid-looking anniversary gift

Ecstatic the news finally dropped!! A little hesitant about a compilation as compared to a live document but considering they (or at least Geo) skimmed the entire archive, I'm psyched that the band's favorite material is being committed to wax.

And delivery aimed at a release 10 days from now??!!!! Guys, this is amazing.

Sooo exciting!!! Lablakely is one of my favourites from this era, which to be honest I haven't spent a load of time with boot-wise. OG Taste is probably the only thing I'm disappointed isn't on there but this is going to be so good. got the tee too cause I'm also a rube (whatever that means)

I don't even have a record player any more but I'll be getting that bundle. I've loved a lot of music in my life but Daft Punk & solo stuff 1996-1998 and Animal Collective 2007-2009 are the most important and life changing periods of music I've ever heard. Sad in a way but I haven't felt quite like this about any other music since MPP but this will be a lovely way to revisit that chapter of my life.

Kamasi Washington did something similar for Heaven and Earth, it's ok but kind of unfolds awkwardly... Tbh I prefer boxes with separate sleeves like crack box or the Tomboy expanded edition.

Really excited for the artwork on this though!

Presumably the whole mix was finished before they figured it'd have to be on three discs.
It is odd though

the vinyl for OK Computer OKNOTOK 1997 2017 looks a lot like this. That one came out really solid. Fingers crossed.

I can totally understand why WWIWS not being in the line up, with that being on the 9:30 box set and all .. my girls and brother sport are already repeats but also had to be apart of this. I believe taste and doggy were played on the Pre tour before MPP came out (although not 100% positive) and then lead house would’ve definitely been sick af to have been added ... anyway still amazing live album I’ve hoping they’d do for many years!!
Let’s all pray that essplode is apart of that fireworks tho ... I’m feeling doubtful tho
