Dave posted on Instagram that he's releasing an EP later this year which will hopefully please fans of the 2017 demos. That's presumably where the Midnight Special recording will end up!
Also said he's currently working on music with the full band, so that's also great
Presumably writing and prepping for the new tour.

Hello! I havent posted in a bit so just thought id offer a little summer update of sorts. Lots of sounds in the works. Gonna hit you all soon with some live tracks from the Cows tour. Also I just finished mixing a new EP i hope to get out there later this year. All of those waiting for 2017’s lost jams will be pleased. Currently deep in the music with Panda, Deakin, and Geo. Cant wait to see you AC heads on tour this fall. Hope everyone is finding joy this Summer.

ok this isn't really for this thread bu panda just posted a picture of a semi-standard drum kit on twitter. I forgive u panda! dude has Jeremy sized boots to fill (in terms of recent context) which is exciting and he clearly can.
re: actual topic, I don't think I know any of the songs from the boots that could end up on this but that in itself is exciting and its sweet Dave's directly referencing that stuff.

I remember thinking KC, Eyes, and Mayan in particular sounded much better live than on the record so I'm glad he chose those specifically for the single
