Fovrodi taking over the forum right now. Replacing thread, remaking history and shit.
All I need for this thead to be offical is a Sonic Boom post and a Stan post complaining about Jabberwocky

I'm of the mind that as a general rule for forum functionality we should be archiving threads around 100 pages and starting over, that's the standard on most sites using this kind of forum structure because of the way phpbb handles things.
Search function does not work well on huge threads like that, so no point in continuing to bump them when they're already hard to navigate

tbh I kinda like when the thread is massive and unsearchable. You had to be there ya know
But I commend ur diligent efforts to organize the forum and keep a complete archive of all things AC

I guess I see both sides. I could just make a wiki instead of micro manage the board

The whole run up to Tropic of Cancer is great, if it kept that momentum it would be one of my favorite AC albums. The production is wishy washy even with that run of songs, though. What should have been earth shattering ended up becoming a fun psych pop album that's easily overlooked. Look at what was done to Selfish Gene, for example, and compare it to the live version. I know comparing to live versions is a trap many on this board fall into, but it's most egregious on this album, in my opinion
Maybe I was too hyped at the time, but I expected more

No but forreal its probably my favorite post-mpp anco album. I know that doesnt mean much but after years of going back and forth i truly love the final version. I love the dense studio fuckery and the copy and paste beats. Melodies are great too. Sonic boom did nothing wrong

Has had the most dramaticly bad aging of anything since mpp. Aged worse than chz for me
Not bad, I just went from thinking the songs were amazing to thinking they're a bit uneven, sometimes kinda hollow, and sometimes the synth work is not really my thing at all. But anyway we need to stop talking about this album, it's time

2013 & 2014 should have been the worst two years of my life if not for Greaper idk.
I'm immensely fond of this era and I love(d) every second of the hype train and being on the forum.

This is still one of my favourite albums, I still spin it regularly when I need a certain feeling....Nadir... it hits home. Could have been a huge double album with the EP’s too, a massive and ambitious and exploratory aural step into the unknown
Questions still — did Part of the Math come from this era, did Sonic Boom ever hear/work on it?
And can anyone expand on the themes of Sequential Circuits? Particularly ‘near as far as the ship to the oar’? The cut and the balm?

Sequential circuits is supreme, I have no fucking clue what he's talking about
Doubtful POTM came out of these sessions

re: POTM i’m assuming you’re saying that because of animal/mineral/vegetable? i recall SB posting that even back during late Tomboy era, i think it probably just stuck with Noah

Yep that’s the quote that I remember, but yeah he could have just liked it.... loop/breakbeat aesthetic is similar tho

The visual design and art of this era is almost distracting to me. I liked it at the time but the the colors are so damn bright and distinct it's an almost over determined synesthetic vibe for me that does something weird to the music I don't think I love. It's the poppiest look and feel the boys have ever done in terms of packaging and at this.point it's a visual ulcer. Even the drawing of him playing ps2 is like...off lol (FUK you panda he's evil)

i feel like this era just delivered and delivered. start mid 2012 and last through end 2015.
starting first with principe real demo at the CHz radio broadcast, then the 2013 atp show / boots, then the 2014 shows where he brought in a ton of additional material like sequential circuits, ctys, butcher baker. then recorded stuff at the end of 2014 with the mr noah ep and vid, then the full length album, then the crosswords ep. along the way we also got the mix that he made of great tracks that he was inspired by and the delicious Swallow at the Hollow. man, when we got those atp rehearsal tapes, I almost shat myself, and then we also got the PBVR demos which were super cool and different (Robert Frost Cosplay, Acid Wash). I'm probably forgetting some stuff, but when you lump all of that together, it's SO MUCH stuff!! super grateful for this era and all the versions of everything.
