Hello friends
I, like probably many other people on here, have spent a great deal of time listening to the live recordings of AC over the last however many years of my life. I feel like I have a lot of experience diving deep into obscure recordings to discover exciting new highlights of their creative output. I want to create something- a playlist, an "anthology," idk- something that brings together all of the best recordings into one spot that's accessible for people who dont have the time to dive so deep.
I'm not saying I'm setting out to make the ultimate one- just the one with my favorites, and I'm curious to see what other people would put on their ultimate AC live collection.
Shows? individual songs? split up into eras? put ideas in this thread

I'm currently obsessed with the 07 era, and its painful for me to imagine choosing one show over another, or breaking up transitions... I'm very partial to the Lyon show and the Amsterdam show, which sound pretty different

I'll give this some significant thought but the 07 era is the stuff I'll take to my grave and think back to this forum and our chats and dumb jokes and I'll feel happy for a few moments before my mud hut is crushed by gigantic radioactive cockroaches.

this times infinity.
'07 contained the best 3 shows ive seen from them ...may '07 for the first mpp tour, june '07 for panda's pp tour & sep '07 for 930 club show for the 2nd american leg...i was enthralled with them after those 3. a truly joyous summer in hindsight..

it would be cool to hear a mixtape of songs taken from various different boots to highlight your fav versions of certain songs. even tho it would be tough to break up transitions, it could be like a highlight reel for a certain era, kinda like that Crispy Pops mix tho I think that was focused more on transitions that songs (still haven't listened to it lol). it's been a while since I listened to any boots but I would love to make a mix like that
Other than a mix or a playlist, I think it's still helpful if you just point out your fav shows since there's so many of them. Doesn't have to be definitive like u said, just picking out your favs for different reasons, whether it's the performance or the sound quality or anything else

It's definitely a cool idea, I think it would have to be themed in some way to really do the songs justice (e.g. radio sessions) or even maybe something in the spirit of Animal Crack Box Vol. II
Spoiler: show

cool idea, would definitely listen to whatever you guys put together
if it goes the route of compiling song suggestions, a couple of songs i absolutely adore that i felt never got as much love as they deserved:
1. island chase from the 2010-11-02 deakin show at must hall of williamsburg
great deakin track that i was bummed didn't make it onto sleep cycle, up there with 2011 avey/from a beach/glasslands etc as far as unrecorded AC gems go
2. footy from the 2010-01-18 Paris boot
really early sketch of footy that is completely different from the album version, totally beautiful, sounds like it belongs with the noah's ark tracks. the part where he goes "holding up, i'm holding up, i'm weighed down" kills me every time without fail. also "watched my father wiiittheeerr aaawwwaaay" and "i just want to be a happy man...man, i'm trying hard" fuck
just the early deakin boots in general man, had those on constant rotation all of 2010, and the vibe of the early 2010 shows are totally different from the late 2010 shows too, both awesome in their own ways and worth checking out

beginning to think '06 AC is my favorite for live recordings. OG versions of Strawberry Jam/Water Curses songs, spirited versions of Sung Tongs & Feels material... they were still doing the weird ramshackle indie band thing and sounded so entirely free, jam-packed with ideas & dreams... everything which would be realized within the next 3 years...
thanks to rampface for the full video of the Phili show on March 22nd 2006... probably the greatest AC performance i have ever seen. all four of the dudes are on point and locked in the entire time
