Chicago is a 3 hour drive for me and this is on a weeknight but I want to go just so I can say I saw all 4 members of AC perform solo within a 1 year period

I saw him in Thetford- was anyone else here at that show? It was apparently a very small music festival (3rd year its been public, but has existed as a local entity for about 13). It was entirely organized by young people "making a scene where there is none." He mostly played new material! It played Golden Chords as well as Wide Eyed. At one point he commented on all the mosquitoes, "I think I've lost a pint of blood. If I'm going to die, mosquitoes aren't gonna do it." and he kind of grinned at the end of that. He has enough material that I could see an ep or additional project coming about fairly soon.
There were technical difficulties due to rain at the outside venue but it was a fairly ideal scene for seeing Deakin for my first solo performance of his- backdrop was a barn on some kind soul's farmfields. Just because it's a nice addition to the story, my partner and I laid in the tent listening to the remainder of the bands, and in the morn swam and bathed in a nearby river.

Also! Does anyone know why Deakin likes to wear white pants? I always associated with a type of John Lennon spiritual figure image. Unsure if the man himself has commented on this.

(No boots, sorry!)

was not there but someone on reddit (maybe you?) said he played roughly 7 songs including Harpy. I'm guessing the other 4 were DownDown, the 1 new song from Ottobar, and the 2 new songs from Elsewhere.

glad you liked it! can't wait for the rest of the tour. I'm hoping he plays even longer sets and some boots come out

Because white pants fucking rock. Although without boots is pretty strange

saw in bk

I'm not up to date on what he's currently working on, but the new songs are very early and undeveloped right now, more like sketches. he played wide eyes, golden chords, and 6 new ones. all very meditative and personal and dont really go anywhere. look forward to seeing them develop.

the songs are very much like 'old AC' and I think it's most interesting that dave and noah are out touring old songs and here is josh--maybe for the first time--kind of 'out front' and putting himself out there and experimenting in front of small but sympathetic audiences. two very different tracks running parallel right now

Everybody go out and see deakin
These new songs are less acoustic and denser electronic
I started cheesing so hard out of enjoyment during the 4th new song? It had lots of organ and deakin going terry riley on his keyboard, hence why I named the song Organ Traveler.
Wide eyed was so driving and fun

Then maybe you’ll be interested in some crappy phone recordings from the Philly show

Highlife:

Unknown
Unknown
The Moon’s Coming Up
The Seed of Sight
New song in memory of Janka Nabay
Alliance (Robert Wyatt cover)

Not familiar with his work but I think these were all new. Saw a demo of the third song on his soundcloud. Second song is my favorite.
Deakin:
Spoiler: show

New song 1 from Elsewhere boot
DownDownDownDown
New song
Wide Eyed
New song 2 from Elsewhere boot
New song
Shadow Mine
Golden Chords
Harpy (Blue)

He didn’t play the new song from the Ottobar show and I haven’t heard recordings of the other two new ones yet. They’re both fairly mellow and one sort of reminds me of PJ. The lyrics to one of the new songs are different from the Elsewhere boot.
Anyone record any other shows? I’m curious to hear how the new songs morph over time

Thanks for asking. I checked the stage for a setlist and he had a little notebook open where he mapped out the dial positions for each song. Seemed more personal and practical than a setlist so I felt bad looking at it.

Favorite bit of banter which I think you can hear in the recording (paraphrased)
Deakin: “got about 2 more songs. maybe 3”
Guy: “play as many as you want!”
Deakin: “well yeah, that’s the thing”

Confirmed he is working on a new record "but I'm gonna play the old stuff too, because that's what you guys came here for" haha. But yeah the first, second, and fourth new songs he played were all on synth (think it's a dave smith prophet), while the others were guitar. The Parkway is such a cool venue (it's usually an indie movie theater) and I'm so psyched I made it to the show with costco_boy_42] and bansheebeaten last minute
