why lie about it... this is just one of their best. i've been thinking about the jam and how dry it is.. i think by design... since usually there records were so reverberated and delayed... but the vocal track on the jam is just so straight up. and it really hits on fireworks. like god damn. i know they are dissatisfied with this record but this has to be one of their most slam dunk straight up alt rock songs. like they are just butt fucking rock music on this tune. hate to say it like that. but the way the eletric guitar swerves, the piano line compliments the vocals. idk what there is more to say other than, damn, i fucking get it. and maybe, as i grow older, i'll continue to get it. hopefully hehe.

this song is immense, i can't listen to it any more because i interpolated some of its lyrics into a poem i wrote for a friend who was grieving the loss of their infant, but man, what a good fucking song.

Finding the live versions of Fireworks was a level up in my enjoyment of AC. I hope they're around long enough to unretire it at some time. It's a great song to listen to, to (pathetically) sing along with, and I even love watching the videos where panda is bashing the drums. You gotta be tight to play along with that backing snare track or whatever it is.

The seagull sample is alltime. And the European foothills-ass yodeling or โheeโing has not aged poorly unlike some other โ00s indie tendencies

That seagull has always made me so unbelievably sad. Never realized it was a seagull for some reason lol. You're rolling with the song and it's fucking you up n breaking ur heart and then the middle section comes in with that mournful ass riff and all of a sudden you're hit with the most desperate-sounding little sound. Always felt like some vague wounded animal to me. I always picture this amorphous little brown shape, like a deer or a rabbit or something, just lying there on the forest floor calling out for something as it's dying. My cat has been making a sound like that the past two days. She's been going around the house and meowing constantly. Her meow has always sounded pretty desperate like that but it's even more so that way now. She won't eat and she seems to be in discomfort. Still waiting on the results from the vet. She keeps meowing at doors in particular and trying to get outside. She stopped going outside nearly a decade ago. I'm wondering if she's looking for a place to die.
Anyway phenomenal little sample. Whole album has so many classic little sound bites like that.

Never even noticed that was a seagull or ever really considered the sample itself in any way

seagull sample is good imo because it loops out of phase with the rest of the song

Cello? Think it's reversed guitar or slow attack guitar by Deakin
Beautiful song for sure

probably right. I was thinking it was a cello sample because of the sampling they did in the other jam songs

hell yes! the delay snare loop is such a creative use of pedal effects and is so freaking clever. when noah manipulates the loop speed to get that phase distortion heโs basically created a new instrument, and only for one song!

Vocals are just fantastic on this. The dryness works
