Idk necessarily that this deserves its own thread since there's barely any info but WTF I just saw this tweet. that's super fucking cool... "site specific" music means like a one-time only kind of thing I guess? Like coral orgy sort of... but two nights. but I guess they havent announced the exact dates. edit nevermind cant read

fucking cool, and out of the blue. Am I the only Nola dude here?

Nola inspired free form jazz mixed with psychedelia with a dash of Avant garde and a pinch of pop

This should be interesting

sounds like that place is the tree in the Strawberry Fields Forever music video that john or someone jumps up on to tune cuz its like the instrument that creates that song(?)

really whack sounding, probably gonna be some super spacey stuff

That's awesome, based off those links sounds like the perfect venue for AC. I'm imagining them just banging on staircases with wooden sticks and stuff

damn I would love to go to this. that space looks awesome and perfect for a band as creative as AC. also really cool to see them bring back their mid-00's visual aesthetic for the poster, really curious as to what this show will sound like!

I use to live In Nola! The music box is amazing! I saw Deakin perform at one of the shows with a bunch of other people there like three years ago, I recorded and have it somewhere. My good friend she works on building stuff for the music box and helps run all that. She became friends with Deakin and I about died when I saw they were texting each other. I don't live in New Orleans anymore, but I wish I did, because I bet my friend will be hanging out with Animal Collective, and I would love to join in that hang session and just see this performance!

i wonder if this will get like... songy at all or i guess i mean vocal-oriented and melodic or if itll be pure sound-scape, ambient and concrete stuff.

i need to listen to that coral orgy boot or something, cuz it seems like itd be reasonably similar to something like that but like who knows. maybe they'll debut Mr. Fingers live or some crazy shit..

the poster says "site specific sounds and songs" so I assume they'll be playing both soundscape stuff and songy songs

Yea, it'll probably be closest to Coral Orgy or TTG; long stretches of drones and dissonant sounds, with the occasional melodic structure and lyrical verse. Which would be great since TTG in particular has some of the coolest little song bits that they've released in the last 10 years.

Or maybe it'll be more like Glasslands i.e. more structured. I guess we'll see in several weeks...

Spoiler: show
just do like stereotypical things, triangulate around Jackson square, where bourbon and canal intersect and as far as the area called the marigny, and youll probably be occupied with AC at night but Frenchmen street does have tons of mostly free jazz/funk type shows every night and if u wanted to do true tourist things i guess some cemeteries and french quarter are cool and i like riding the street car all the way uptown on st charles during the day and theres a daquiri place down there and audobon park which is pretty scenic

so these like might be the only ac shows all year? seems like everything else will just be solo unless they surprise us with festival dates? idk could be wrong or forgetting something. assuming another ac cycle wont start until next year at the very earliest so this is kind of extra cool/random..

seems like they are more and more open to doing random configurations for one off things. impossible to know really.

i think the latest currently scheduled thing is panda bear EU festival shows in june, right? presumably he will be hitting the west coast at some point after that, but nothing else is really for sure.
