I liked it. It was like experiencing an Animal Collective song being played as the soundtrack for a Jewish folk tale.
Things were a little slow moving and corny at parts but whatevs...

How much creative control does the band have over their music vids?
I think the only AC music videos I like are WCWAR, Fireworks, and My Girls.

it gets really exhilarating during the chorus when avey screams "i make a monkey wretch" and the old man's playing with the ropes with a huge grin on his face.

^ yes about the band members
this one really doesn't jive with me, has nothing to do with the song or theme of the album

I liked the second half when it gets pretty intense but the first few minutes are pretty weird/boring

I think this was too avante-garde for me, but I've come to expect that from Anco vids. I am never quite prepared for whatever they decide to show with their music.

im not gonna judge an AC video as an "Animal Collective official video" until they write and direct their own. this was awesome btw

Honestly, what is this shit? Do the band even watch the music videos before they're put out? I'm all for abstract music videos but this is just bad

I like the second half of it in concept, but overall yeah I think this is pretty bad to be honest. I'm not asking for super trippy visuals or anything, I just want a music video that actually goes with the damn music. Even the old man dancing doesn't really go with the song.
I think Bluish has the best video.

This one is a wondrous and wyrd modern artwork. i would not mind seeing something about what it took to create this behind the scenes, but i don't mind just imagining. every year it gets easier to take filmmaking and acting for granted, but, something like this does not hide away how much effort and focus as well as joy and mystery are involved in its creating. : )
I am happy that there seems to have been a strong attempt to link some of the imagery with Abby's original video. :) :) which is also really deep once the symbols make sense.
this was awesome, if just for being so out of left field. i thought it was really well-done though, and looked pretty great. more like this.

I loved the hulking rope monsters at the end.
That would be a sweet band name. The Hulking Rope Monsters.
[edit] Also, probably one of the best AC videos aside from My Girls.

Hell yeah, Jung!
See guys, on one level, this is a kind of homage to Gnostic reimagining of the Genesis story. You've Adam + Eve + God/Demiurge + even ropes to stand in for the snake.
And of course it's also lots of other things, like a fragment of one those creature features Avey loves so much, and a reason to create psychedelic tunnels and prisms and sweet rope masks and patterns

Also seems like some heroin imagery with the big spike and tube that goes with the lyrics about fighting an urge to 'nod out.'
