Yes; also it does seem, to me anyway, like the Painting With era songs were each formed in such a way that Deakin could be a major part of them live during subsequent tours!!

Even the Merriweather and Fall Be Kind era songs turned out to be that way!!

I realize this is kind of a hollow thought and assumption, but I am somewhat especially excited to hear new AC these days because of recent solo output and how, at least in my mind, those types of releases can foreshadow an artists next step. I like how Eucalyptus was more introspective and personal than Avey's recent writing with Animal Collective. It gives me hope that he will do the same with the new AC album because my favorite stuff from him has always been the more intimately written material.

I’ll find the interview but the dudes said their philosophy is that album art is a bonus thing and not necessarily a representation of the albums sound.

I do enjoy the synaesthesia chat, as boring as it is to read for pretty much anyone. With that in mind:

DYSTW - Grassy green and yellow (the cover), with a rich brown for the 'babies, rabies' and then scattered sky blue and mint green for the 'oh oh oh' outro.
Grass - similar, kind of pale hay
Flesh Canoe - kind of burnt orange/brown
Purple Bottle - different sections are different colours, starts like grass, goes more purply pink with the crush high
Bees - orange and yellow
Banshee Beat - purple and navy blue, pinkish highlights around the chord change
Daffy Duck - rich dark purple, some crimson
Loch Raven - impossible mixture of golden Panda vocals streaking throughout, pale blue twinkling, orange and yellow tones from the chords, some green and brown earthiness from the drums, Dave's vocals are an almost black purple colour but more like darkness chewing up the patterns of light - it's one of the most amazing colour and sound combinations of anything I've experienced and I'm not into drugs.
Turn Into Something - grassy and golden again but melds into white and yellow hazy laser streaks at the end.

i fully don't have synesthesia.

once i made a beat and it sounded very purple/pink and like daily routine sounds purple and lion in a coma sounds yellow but that's about it. feels mostly sounds like green/yellow but im almost certain thats just the cover which is why i hate the cover?

but anyway, next album should be like.... avey's new set with minimal back up vox from panda/deak + the energy of The Painters EP kind of expanded on but then spaced out and slowed down a bit. i want it more brooding but also more plaintive and like ballad-heavy. Songs that have shifting percussive parts and an organic feeling development in the songs that feels like Chz but slower and build-ier and a bit airier.

like airy but semi-dark psychic energy, drawing heavily from Sleep Cycle/Eucalyptus and new Avey songs but also the live version of Come to Your Senses and Nadir/Selfish Gene.

i have synesthesia except i see OG pokemon cards instead of colors.

so i'd love to see an album that sounds like the way the Butterfree, Dewgong, Seal, Abra and Wartortle cards look for instance. that'd be my ultimate album

i think if anything, for most ac songs, i feel textures as opposed to hearing colors. so i hear feelings/textures? like mpp feels like drizzle mist or water coming out of a humidifier or like light being reflected on water(not a texture/feeling but ya)... SJ feels like its shiny and almost rubbery, like bright plastics.... CHZ is super rubbery and like reminds me of the sound-effects on Kid Pix but also static and little electro-shocks too... PW does sound a lot like bright, wet gloopy paint blobs and like repeating patterns.... so some visual stuff but more like colorless visual imagery mixed with what feels like spacial/tangible things brushing up against my temporal gyrus or something

like i want to hear this album, but this is different than the darker, ballad-y one i was describing and is more of a tropical-core EP... like they def touched on this with MPP but thats also pretty damn different

but like less sunny, and with less of those tight poppy beats and structures. more free flowing, like a chz with less drums/speed that is way airier and lets itself space out a lot... kind of angsty while still being kind of hooky and upbeat. avey whisper voice. .... in louder moments let Jeremy drum on an actual studio track

I'm down for Jeremy coming back. Gives Panda a break from being the drummer to focus on vocals, guitar, keys, etc. Plus he has a unique drumming style that works with AC.
